i hope you didn't think i was inviting myself along on your hike plans.... that said, if i come to denver for thanksgiving, i'd be happy to hike w/ you again, baume. but, even more, i am looking forward to meeting and hiking w/ your very lovely wife. (is that better, rg?) :-)

Tara Darling,

I was planning on taking advantage of baume66's overnighter to get drunk with my siblings and talk trash. You choose...backpacking or hanging out with me and my warm, witty, above average siblings.

Seriously, if it looks like you are going to go, keep me posted. You have my email address.

baume66...
I bought a book on the lost cove wilderness from latta outdoors, intending to take a hike in there after a meeting i attended in denver in july.....however, when i went to pick up the topo map at the rei there, i was persuaded to hike in the collegiate peaks because lost cove creek might not be the "raging creek tumbling thru the canyon" that i was looking forward to, and the shortest "loop" was 24 miles. I wanted to spend a few days in the sangre de christo range too, so I had no desire to cover 24 miles in a hurry.
It was a couple of hours of really scenic driving to Buena Vista and on the way to the trailhead, there are some nice hot springs and an awesome place to get veggie tamales (o my goodness!)

I thouroughly enjoyed my three nights up in there. i took the browns pass trail from the denney creek trailhead. You could even bag a fourteener , Mt. Yale if you wake up reeeeeely early and get up there and back before the t storms..but i bet tstorms are not a problem in november ....

here is the link to some views, i am too....uh...well ...i forgot how to do the html thing...heh

Oh, hello sweet Om. How unbecoming of me to post that I plan a drunken evening instead of backpacking. Now that the goddess of all things good has posted here, I am embarrassed.
