I interviewed for one near Philly on Friday and things looked/sounded pretty good. Now it's hurry up and wait. Uggg. So stressfull. Will be awesome to be away from Beltway hell though.”

Potential? Very much so. It was all about weak cash flow though. I doubled the gross sales in one year yet key clients didn't come through when it was time to pay.

They didn't want to let me go and I didn't want to go either. I wanted this one to work. If something changes they will be calling me.”

“I feel for ya. In profesional services and any business where you're selling your time the cash flow can nail ya. It's so easy to get stretched. It make take us 5 months to design something, 1 month for it to bid, 2 months for our client to get paid and then maybe 2 more for us to get paid. 10 months from start of project til payment. Sounds like that company is in the same boat. Then you have the whole be a butt to get paid versus getting future work issue.”

on a related note:

In a odd move given the culture where i work, this year we hired a firm that specializes in low key collections.

We had the same issues. Get paid by the hour, commit a huge amount of time to projects and never collect. Our outstanding receipts over 90 days was a few million.

The guy is really low key. Is not heavy handed and has done pretty well.

The folks here stink at collected outstanding bills from their clients, so this was really needed.”
