new girl from PA

“Hi, my name's Melissa and I'm 22 years old from Warminster, PA. Just curious if there are others from my area and if so, are there any places you recommend for hiking/backpacking/camping in the PA/NJ area? I've been around Hawk Mountain, BushKill Falls, and hiked the Appalachian Trail in PA.

Hi Scorch! I'm in Hatboro, so your about 2.35 minutes from me, Ha!

This is a nice area to live because we're very centralized. The closest AT trips are only 1.5 hours away outside Allentown and farther North you have The Loyalsock, Old Logger's Path, and Black Forest Trails.
That's just in PA and that's just a start!

For a dayhike, I highly recommend the Tyler Arboretum in Lima (close to Media), great place to go for the day and there's a 10 mile perimeter trail that you can knock out in about 3.5 hours.

“Welcome. I live in Glenside, a bit farther down the road from you. Seems like they've already mentioned the likely places to hike. There is also the towpath on the Delaware Canal if you like flat walking, river scenes and noise. Route 32 or 611 parallel the canal, but there are stretches away from the road that are nice.

The Delaware Water Gap NRA is nice on the Joisey side. The Pa. side is not exactly a slouch, but there seem to be more trails on the Jersey side.”
