Even in the story, and I know it's just a story, but the woman (Joan Allen) admired the way she saw this coyote move through the brush whenever she caught a glimpse of him until one day she found him with an arrow in him and she cried. I have heard that once you go to a plant where they kill animals, it can put a person off of eating meat forever. I'm not a big meat eater myself. Maybe I'll have a piece of chicken a few times a year, and turkey. Oh please, don't let me start thinking about live turkeys. I hate when they show them on tv right before Thanksgiving. Yes, I am closing my eyes to the fact that they were alive and I like it that way for the few times I eat chicken or turkey. I do believe though that if there is a less painful way to slaughter an animal and a better way to treat them as they grow, it should be done. Even my husband, the huge meat eater, didn't want to eat KFC chickens when it was shown on a video how they were being kicked around by workers when they were alive. My aunt-in-law says she has no problem bringing her pigs to slaughter. She says she gives them a good life before she has them butchered.” 1:28:43 PM 11/10/05 “All animals should be admired. The issue of the coyote in the story was that the girl shot it and left it - she didn't use it. People don't generally eat coyote, but if they did, I'm sure Joan Allen would have shot it before her daughter killed it. She shot the bear. Everything we eat was once alive...plants, animals, fish... lipstick hiker the ostrich, LOL...” 1:52:01 PM 11/10/05 “Anybody else use Intelliflix? I just started. It sure seems to take a long time to get new movies. On 10/31 I mailed back 2 movies. Finally on 11/8 a new movie arrived. I have yet to receive the second one yet. Maybe today's mail...” 3:14:16 PM 11/10/05 “I use intelliflix. I know there is a mailing "cycle" but most of my movies are mailed out as soon as others have been received. I noticed they come from different places, that might be part of the delay. Kill Bill was shipped on 11/04 and I got it yesterday, 11/09. last edited: 11/10/05 3:25:18 PM” 3:22:14 PM 11/10/05 “twig, the daughter never did admit to killing the coyote, but I guess it was understood that she did. I don't understand why she lied to her mother and the role of her shooting something she was not going to eat. Maybe coyote or anything tastes good with a little alfredo sauce:) My head is so far down in the sand. I think that the meat/poultry is actually grown in those nicely sealed plastic wrapped pkgs. I love that my husband grills his food mostly, so I don't have to handle meat or poultry.” 3:32:21 PM 11/10/05 “Kill Bill was shipped on 11/04 and I got it yesterday, 11/09. netflix is much faster. i can watch a movie on monday, send it back on tuesday, and have a new movie by thursday. i havent tried this, but i bet i could watch a movie and send it back the same day, and have a new movie 2 days after watching the other movie” 3:41:47 PM 11/10/05 “My turn around time is about 2-3 days with Netflix. The movies only travel 30 miles between my house and their local hub. Old movies in mail Monday; new movies in my box by Thursday.” 3:46:28 PM 11/10/05 “Maybe Intelliflix doesn't have as many hubs. So far the addresses have been in New Jersey and Delaware. I'm in the Chicagoland area in NW Indiana.” 3:55:19 PM 11/10/05 “ruby, netflix has a hub in south bend. you could just go over and knock on their door!” 4:00:15 PM 11/10/05 “Day-um! That's quite a haul considering Chicago is so close.” 4:00:45 PM 11/10/05 “netflix kicks all major forms of ass” 4:02:03 PM 11/10/05 “If only they were as cheap as intelliflix. I paid $99/year which is $8.25/month. Now I know why.” 4:13:32 PM 11/10/05 “im paying 15 a month to have 2 titles at a time, and the turnaround is super speedy” 4:18:51 PM 11/10/05 “Recently? Some recommendations: Upside of Anger The Woodsman The Incredibles Crash Diary of a Mad Black Woman Star Wars III” 4:27:02 PM 11/10/05 “Watched Million Dollar Baby tonight...2 stars..I was very let down by it..not nearly as good as I expected.” 8:01:17 PM 11/10/05 “I was told that Million Dollar Baby would be more emotional and less fighting, but I felt it was more fighting and less emotional for the most part and I thought it was an excellent movie and would recommend it. I'd ask Carlette why she was let down by it, but the answer would probably give away a good part of the movie.” 11:11:12 AM 11/11/05 “I liked "Million Dollar Baby". And put me on the list of people who hated "Fight Club"....not too impressed with the last Star Wars flick...the one with Sith in the title. A little too much light sabre scenes.” 11:31:01 AM 11/11/05 “I agree that Fight Club sucks..very boring movie” 11:33:40 AM 11/11/05 “Boring? Watch Winter Solistice with Anthony La Paglia. You can compare it to the worst tv movie you have ever seen. Yeah, Upside of Anger was good. I'm glad my video store did $1 movie days for a few weeks or I probably would have missed renting that one. Anyone see Saving Faces?” 1:33:12 PM 11/13/05 “I thought fight club sucked too. I finally rented True Romance. It was pretty good.” 3:36:09 PM 11/13/05 “true romance rocks. a quentin tarantino movie written before all of his movies screamed "look at me! im Q movie!" and all you old farts who didnt like fight club are weak! :-P” 5:40:13 PM 11/13/05 “Christmas with the Kranks is a blight on the face of the earth. I can't believe my wife rented it much less actually watched it. Batman Begins was pretty good.” 6:43:36 PM 11/13/05 “"The Notebook" still brings a tear to my eye and I've seen it like 10 times... once again last night.” 7:43:36 PM 11/13/05 “I watched Seabiscuit and was surprised that I liked it. Started out kinda boring, then all tied in together. I didn't get Kill Bill but I don't like that kind of crap anyway. We've had Walking with Dinosaurs for awhile and have watched parts of it now and then, but it's time for it to go back.” 7:53:07 AM 11/14/05 “My Netflix Queue is getting low. What's good?” 10:08:06 AM 11/14/05 “Fahrenheit 911 ;-)” 10:48:59 AM 11/14/05 “Why Stovie, I think you'd enjoy Ya Ya Sisterhood or Under the Tuscan Sun, LOL... last edited: 11/14/05 10:50:25 AM” 10:50:09 AM 11/14/05 “Seen it on cable. Entertaining fiction, le Subtil. last edited: 11/14/05 10:53:06 AM” 10:51:01 AM 11/14/05 “I did like the Ya Ya Sisterhood.” 10:51:52 AM 11/14/05 “Ya Ya is a chick flick Stovie, what's up with you liking it, huh? I didn't like either one of those movies.” 10:57:43 AM 11/14/05 “I like a few 'chick' flicks. :-) I'm liberal that way, LOL.” 10:59:16 AM 11/14/05 “Just finished the second disk of the A&E movie version of Jane Austin's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Now that's a good 'chick' flick I enjoyed. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005MP58/102-4783785-2015340?v=glance&n=130&v=glance last edited: 11/14/05 11:07:06 AM” 11:04:07 AM 11/14/05 “I saw BBC has the Chronicals of Narnia on DVD. I may just have to rent this as I can't wait for the new one to come out.” 11:05:55 AM 11/14/05 “Hmmm, looks like Stompy's picking movies with his vagina again. Haha!” 11:08:26 AM 11/14/05 “I watched the DVD Special Edition of Alice in Wonderland with my daughter yesterday. Actually, I read "Touching the Void" while she watched while snuggled up on the couch. The White Rabbit is a tough one to catch. Pretty funny that they have a caterpillar hoped up on opium in the movie.” 11:08:54 AM 11/14/05 “You ever read the original Alice in Wonderland? Not for children.” 11:11:21 AM 11/14/05 “No, I haven't. I've seen parts of the movie, but it's been awhile. I couldn't help but think the whole book must have been the result of a drug induced haze. Purple Haze, all in my eyes,.... last edited: 11/14/05 11:22:41 AM” 11:22:26 AM 11/14/05 “ive read the original alice in wonderland. very good stuff. can be enjoyed by adults or children (and it originally was written for a young girl)” 4:22:31 PM 11/14/05 “You are correct C!B!. I had a brain fart, I was thinking of the uncensored Gulliver's Travels. Part of that book has some very adult passages.” 8:28:08 PM 11/14/05 “Wow, SS the EE is quite well read.” 6:21:27 AM 11/15/05 “I've always read, but I know better than to compete with an English Major like C!B!. Got into the habit as a child when my Dad unpluged the TV for a few years.” 7:51:11 AM 11/15/05 “I could do without TV pretty much all the time except for football season.” 7:53:20 AM 11/15/05 “My wife and I unhooked the satalite a few years back and just never got around to hooking it back up. I'd rather read than watch tv any day.” 6:18:15 PM 11/15/05 “Intelliflix might have redeemed themselves in my eyes. I wrote a complaint to them about the time it takes for the movies to ship to me. Turns out they have a nifty feature. When I drop a movie in the mail, I notify them. Then they ship me another movie without waiting for the return of the first movie. So currently I have 2 movies here at home, one en route to them and one en route to me for a total of 4 movies out.” 9:57:57 PM 11/15/05 “It’s interesting to see the commonalties and differences in taste. Art is very personal and effects people very differently. I liked Fight Club but it’s not one of my favorites because it’s one of those movies that tries to be just a little TOO clever. But I liked the twist. I’m usually good at figuring out twists (like the sixth sense) but I missed that one. I also loved the self-help group scenarios. I thought some of those social comments were extremely funny. If you want to see a movie that tries to be WAY too clever, watch I (heart) Huckabees. I thought that was awful in the extreme. I just didn’t think Million Dollar Baby was as good as advertised. And I’m just tired of Hollywood preaching to me. I highly recommend Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle by Stephen Chow.” 5:47:09 AM 11/16/05 “Final Order was good. It was sad, but good. Laurel Canyon was creepy, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was a complete waste of time.” 5:52:15 AM 11/16/05 12:27:11 PM 11/16/05 “kung fu hustle was a bizarre but fun movie” 4:57:05 PM 11/16/05 “Melvin Goes to Dinner When Melvin (Michael Blieden) and his friends sat down to dinner, film festival audiences went wild. Initially chatting casually , the four soon begin disclosing the kinds of real, raw truths about themselves that people can only tell their most intimate friends: their sexual encounters, their dirty secrets, the mean, awful things they did or had done to them. Maura Tierney is spectacular, and Jack Black and David Cross provide hilarious cameos. LOL, cut n paste. Great 'talking heads' movie. The 'star' wrote this as a play and then turned it into a movie. One of the more quirky fun/serious movies I've seen in a while, even without car chases or things blowing up. ;-) Oh yea, saw the Batman Begins disk. It was OK. last edited: 11/17/05 8:49:51 AM” 8:48:49 AM 11/17/05 “"Crash" was really good. Both my 19 year old son and I liked it.” 7:52:41 AM 11/18/05 Jump to Page << prev
