I have heard that once you go to a plant where they kill animals, it can put a person off of eating meat forever. I'm not a big meat eater myself. Maybe I'll have a piece of chicken a few times a year, and turkey. Oh please, don't let me start thinking about live turkeys. I hate when they show them on tv right before Thanksgiving.

Yes, I am closing my eyes to the fact that they were alive and I like it that way for the few times I eat chicken or turkey. I do believe though that if there is a less painful way to slaughter an animal and a better way to treat them as they grow, it should be done. Even my husband, the huge meat eater, didn't want to eat KFC chickens when it was shown on a video how they were being kicked around by workers when they were alive.

My aunt-in-law says she has no problem bringing her pigs to slaughter. She says she gives them a good life before she has them butchered.”

“All animals should be admired. The issue of the coyote in the story was that the girl shot it and left it - she didn't use it. People don't generally eat coyote, but if they did, I'm sure Joan Allen would have shot it before her daughter killed it. She shot the bear.

I know there is a mailing "cycle" but most of my movies are mailed out as soon as others have been received. I noticed they come from different places, that might be part of the delay.

My head is so far down in the sand. I think that the meat/poultry is actually grown in those nicely sealed plastic wrapped pkgs. I love that my husband grills his food mostly, so I don't have to handle meat or poultry.”

netflix is much faster. i can watch a movie on monday, send it back on tuesday, and have a new movie by thursday. i havent tried this, but i bet i could watch a movie and send it back the same day, and have a new movie 2 days after watching the other movie”

“My turn around time is about 2-3 days with Netflix. The movies only travel 30 miles between my house and their local hub. Old movies in mail Monday; new movies in my box by Thursday.”

“I watched the DVD Special Edition of Alice in Wonderland with my daughter yesterday. Actually, I read "Touching the Void" while she watched while snuggled up on the couch. The White Rabbit is a tough one to catch. Pretty funny that they have a caterpillar hoped up on opium in the movie.”

I liked Fight Club but it’s not one of my favorites because it’s one of those movies that tries to be just a little TOO clever. But I liked the twist. I’m usually good at figuring out twists (like the sixth sense) but I missed that one. I also loved the self-help group scenarios. I thought some of those social comments were extremely funny.

If you want to see a movie that tries to be WAY too clever, watch I (heart) Huckabees. I thought that was awful in the extreme.

I just didn’t think Million Dollar Baby was as good as advertised. And I’m just tired of Hollywood preaching to me.

One of the more quirky fun/serious movies I've seen in a while, even without car chases or things blowing up. ;-)
