Saw 2 movies this weekend - Bangor Sisters and Gangs of NY. BS was OK, nothing to rush out and rent, but not bad. GNY was pretty good, but still not something I would want to own and/or see again.

Being one who generally doesn’t get the Monty Python humor I was reluctant to rent The Life of Brian. I rented it on the advice of a Jewish friend surprisingly enough. What can I say? It was hilarious!

Brian: I'm not the Messiah! Will you please listen? I am not the Messiah, do you understand? Honestly!

Girl: Only the true Messiah denies His divinity.

Brian: What? Well, what sort of chance does that give me? All right! I am the Messiah!

Followers: He is! He is the Messiah!

Brian: Now, #&%!$ off!

[silence]

Arthur: How shall we #&%!$ off, O Lord?

watched butterfly effect and secret window the other day.

butteryfly effect was okay, not what I expected, and I saw better movies.

Secret window was great.
did figure out secret window out a little too quick though. Still good, me luv Jonnny depp

watched mystic river, and hmm...don't know for sure. I couldn't remember a thing about the movie, I had to look it up to remember what the heck it was about. Now I remember, and yeah, I guess it was okay, but it wasn't anything great. At least not for me.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this movie yet, but "Bad Santa" was so funny and original. Billy Bob Thorton is in it.

Guard: Hey, those pants look a little baggy. You wouldn’t be trying to steal stuff from the store are ya?

Santa: The only thing I got in my pants is something to cripple your sister with.

One of my sons (17 y/o) and a bunch of his friends think "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" is way cool. Now, I like a lot of stuff he likes, but I just don't get the appeal. I watched the DVD and it looks like a Saturday Morning Cartoon for 5 - 7 year olds.

Anyone see the show or the DVD and like it?

Here's the appeal of the DVD:

"The following uncut and unedited video may contain content which does not appear in Cartoon Network's on-air telecasts and does not meet Cartoon Network's programming standards. Please note that content contained in these videos may be inappropriate for children."

I've seen the Cartoon Network show. What's not to like about a bunch of slacker human sized talking French Fries and Milkshake? ;-)

You've got a point - maybe these kids can relate... just out of high school, hanging out for the summer. Most of them working very part time, or not at all.

Bad Santa
Saw 'Bad Santa' over the weekend. I think I remember Nigal saying it was good.

Holy crap, what a foul mouthed but funny movie! Earned ever bit of it's R rating with no nudity in the dang thing.

After I returned it, I discovered the video store also had 'Badder Santa', an ever more foul version. Hard to believe. Ha Ha.

I liked to have died watching the bit with the guys in the boxing ring!

Overall, a kick a$$ funny movie NOT FOR KIDS.

I watched "The Others" over the weekend. Usually suspense movies don't mess with me, but this one had my pulse up the whole time. I jumped outa bed a few times. Pretty good movied. I was pissed at the end that I noticed some clues that had to do with WWII, but didn't put 2 and 2 together.

This weekend I saw The Human Stain with Nichole Kiddmen and Anthoney Hopkins, and I saw The People I know with Al Pochino. Both were slower than a retarded blue gill and went nowhere. I wish I had three arms so I could give them three thumbs down. LOL!

On the up side though, HBO has released the show Dead Like Me on dvd. It's about a young girl who dies and has to serve as a grim reaper. If you like dark humor this is a winner.

Also, I rewatched the scene in Nemo where they're on the sea turtles. The stoner turtle is pretty funny. Turns out the voice of the stoner turtle is Andrew Stanton, the creator of "Finding Nemo."

"I was kicking myself on The Others. When they showed the husband my first thought was, "that's not a British WWII uniform.""

Ohhhhh, you're one of THOSE! LOL! I do that all the time and it drives my wife nuts. Usually when it comes to guns and stuff. I always jump and cringe when they make the guy with the gun throw it down and kick it across the pavement. "Holy shat! That's an $1,200 Desert Eagle! Ya don't just throw it down and kick it around like that!".

Yep, I'm one of those. There were several other little war details that bugged me when I heard them and I just assumed the movie was wrong instead of it being a clue. When it showed the paper flying in the air during the sciance(?), I yelled out, "Well $hit, I see what's going on." My wife looked at me like I'd lost my mind. I've never gotten that look before, yeah right.

My sister-in-law will sit there and say "What does that mean? What's going on?" at the beginning of a movie, when NO ONE KNOWS. Very annoying. So I make up stuff.

I remember what really bothered me about it, it was the references to trench warfare. Very little of that happened in WWII and only in isolated situations. I felt like a village was missing their idiot when I figured it out.

I tend to figure out plots ahead of time, but I don't tell my husband, because I don't want to ruin it for him.

I nearly rented out Other People with Pacino, but then called hubby on the cell phone to tell him not pick it up. I did some review checks on the internet about the movie on his way to the store. I went to the "Rottentomatoe" or "Rottentomatoes.com" web site, and another one that I can't remember right now. Maybe it was the "Imdb.com" site.

I don't always go by the review rating, but sometimes by what they actually say about the movie's story.

I just had too hard a time caring about the characters LH. Al plays this PR guy who is a strung out pillhead that never turns off the public relations charm. He’s just so unlikable. And the whole corruption plot just fizzles. It was a real turd.

This weekend I rented Kill Bill 2, Johnson’s Family Vacation, Euro Trip, and 13 Going on 30.

Kill Bill2: Winner. It was nothing like the first really. It’s mostly fill in story and a lot less fighting. The music was not as good either.

Johnson’s Family Vacation: Big time loser! Not even worth the 99 cents.

Euro Trip: Great funny flick! Don’t bother renting unless ya get the uncut version.

13 Going on 30: Cute. This plot has been done to death but the Alias chick made it very believable.

13 Going on 30 was rented for the deep plot twists and fantastic writing. No, really. I mean it. I swear.

Touching the Void is worth renting, as is the classic Live on the Sunset Strip by Richard Pryor.

Along came Polly was pretty funny if you like Ben Stiller movies.
