I think Stove meant there is another version of The Longest Yard.

I think I'd almost consider going out to a movie, but I don't want to go out on Christmas to see a movie, because that to me is a fuzzy stay in the house holiday and I'll also be drinking like a sailor while I'm cooking, so it would not be a good day to see a movie, too many pee breaks:)

I watched the director's cut of The Warriors last night. Pretty good flick with plenty of 70's cheese.

i have a netfix pet peeve. i know, i know, who has netflix pet peeves. now im just LOOKING for something to birch about. but this one is real: i hate when im reading customor reviews (i know, i know, who reads customer reviews, right? i do!), they feel the need to give the plot synopsis, like theyre a columnist for their local entertainment section! gimme a break! just tell me what you thought!

I saw The Island. The critics on yahoo didn't give it a good review and I really don't know why. I don't even care for science fiction and I thought it was good. I thought the "users" rating was more accurate.

This is a link to the yahoo site where it's rated and gives a description of the movie:

I saw "Four Brothers"...it was a very simple film, nothing spectacular....rent the dvd and save some money.

"The Island" was great. Just the thought of you existing...so you could supply your parts to someone (your real self) sends shivers down my spine. Plus Scarlette Johannson is hot..... :o)

4 Brothers was your general redone revenge movie. It's actually based on a 60's western. Mark Walburge has the best pissed off face of any actor out there. It's a rental at best.

Well, we went with War of The Worlds and 50 First Dates w/Adam Sandler for Christmas. I know the Cruise movie got mixed reviews, but I figured it was the movie to get now that I can't find anything else.

Crash, Amazon.com does the same thing with it's book reviews. Everyone (customers) that posts a book review feels the necessity to post what the entire book is about, but why? There is a general book review there already with an editorial review. I agree, just post what you thought without giving any spoilers.

Crash, if you like to argue, go to imdb.com and post to some of the movie sites, especially on some hot topics. People are really angry there, lol:) You just pick a movie and they have a posting area at the bottom of the page.

My wife watched Cry Wolf and said it was pretty good and ya can't tell who's the killer until the very end. She also liked The Exorsism of Emillie Rose which was NOTHING like the trailor makes it look. It's more a courtroom drama with a terror twist.

I got Exorcism of Emily Rose and your right - they TOTALLY mislead you in the trailers. There's one or two scenes where you see domonic possession, but its completely a courtroom drama. Based on a true storty though - which makes it more interesting.

Good movie though.

I saw 50 First Dates. It was cute and funny, but Drew Barrymore's charactor did get on my nerves towards the end. If you saw it or will see it, you'll know what I mean, but it was a good rental overall.

Fantastic Four was missing something, but it was OK for a mind numbing rental!

Did anyone see "Unleashed"? Jet Li movie and a chick flick rolled into one.

I finally watched "War of The Worlds" with Tom Cruise. I have to say I am giving it a better recommendation that other people here have. I thought it was pretty good, definitely worth renting.

Cruise played a regular guy which was nice for a change, because I find him unbelievable in roles as a leading man or a sort of super hero.

I actually found the movie a bit scary, but then parts of it were quite unbelievable. I don't want to give anything away, but it was not because of what was happening, but because of how Cruise managed to easily skirt death. That's not a spoiler really. I'm sure everyone knows he lives in all his movies. Has he ever met an untimely death in any of them?

That was a great flick Phil. I was expecting another mindless action movie but it was a lot deeper than that. There was the love story part minus the gratuitous sex and Jet Li's character was very interesting because he was so meek and submissive and hated the fighting.

I'll be splitting time between my folks and in-laws from Fri-Tues for a belated Christmas get together. I may have to pick up a few movies. My brother in law is bringing his X-box so I may have plenty to do.

Rented out what I think was a mini series movie called "Gone But Not Forgotten" made in 2004 w/Scott Glenn, Lou Diamond Phillips and Brooke Shields. It's 3 hours long!

If I'm hung over for New Years, I can just crash on my couch for 3 hours and zone out watching it. It looks interesting. It's supposed to be a thriller. It's based on a best selling book.

i'm so sorry you had to watch dark water nigal...we saw it at the drive in when it came out thinking it'd be cool to see a scary movie at the drive in but nothing about that movie was scary

we saw second hand lions this weekend...pretty good, a little cheesy in parts...kinda had the feel of big fish...although i think this movie came out first so maybe big fish had the feel of second hand lions

The tv movie mini series "Gone But Not Forgotten" will not be forgotten by me, because the acting sucked. Brooke Shields portrayal of a lawyer giving empassioned speeches lacked any and all emotion along with very poor acting by Lou Diamond Phillips.

I'm glad I went out for New Years and didn't stay in depending on this 3 hour movie as our night time entertainment.
