Aeon Flux...el yucko! I'm hesitant to mention it again, but if you want to see something really cool, check out Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. The plot is sorta lame but the animation is just awesome. I’m hesitant to mention it because the last time I did, I got a couple of people who tried to suggest that Princess Mononoke was a comparable piece of awesome animation. Now, I like the Japanimation stuff and all that, but the two movies aren’t remotely about the same kind of awesome animation. I haven’t seen the latest one, but I will. It gives me all sorts of bizarre ideas about the future of movies. I haven’t seen much lately that really impressed me but there are two that I think are worthy of recommendations: Mirrormask is just too cool. It’s like an acid trip put to film. Of course I’m just guessing here having never tripped my brains out on Orange Sunshine, Mr. Natural, Purple Microdot or anything like them. Another movie would be Paradise Now. Munich was OK, but Paradise Now was a much more subtly powerful movie.” 5:03:13 PM 7/05/06 ““Aeon flux was unwatchable. The old MTV version was much better.” StoveStomper 10:53:23 AM 7/05/06 ignore this user I have to agree ...Atleast she died alot more in the animated versions. Man I loved that cartoon.” 6:20:33 PM 7/05/06 “woo hoo, got the complete series of Strangers With Candy last night!!...watched 3 episodes last night” 6:05:04 AM 7/06/06 “Princess Mononoke, while very good, doesn’t even come close to Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children looks even more spectacular. Mirror Mask is one I have to see. Weird man. Very weird. Two of my all time favorites is The 5th Element with Bruce Willis and Brotherhood of the Wolf.” 7:35:35 AM 7/06/06 ““woo hoo, got the complete series of Strangers With Candy last night!!...watched 3 episodes last night” Strangers With Candy is a gem! Steven Colbert is great in that.” 7:36:26 AM 7/06/06 “This week I watch a movie called The Matador with Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear. Brosnan plays a drunken, burned out hit man and Kinnear plays a desperate business man. It was a good movie with a good plot. I haven’t seen much else because my wife still has the Netflix que clogged with Gilmore Girls.” 10:39:56 PM 7/08/06 “Do you have a local library close by? Mine is very small , but has all the newest releases. You can check out 7 movies per card.” 7:49:59 AM 7/09/06 “My library always has property stickers on all their CDs and DVDs. These are horrible for my players. I had a CD that the corner of the lable came up just a bit and pealed. The damn thing was stuck so bad I had to take the stereo apart to get the damn thing out. I don't use of there DVDs or CDs any more.” 8:24:40 AM 7/09/06 “I watched a documentary today called The Protocols of Zion which investigates the origins of the book The Protocols of the Elders of Zion and it looks at the conspiracy theories about the Jews and 911. Like how 4,000 Jews mysteriously didn’t show up for work on 911 in the towers. I thought this stuff was something the lunatic fringe believed but their were people from all walks of life and every social and political level that believe this stuff.” 1:25:19 PM 7/12/06 “If this is a Michael Moore film, it has to be true! Just ask any Progressive! ;-)” 1:40:04 PM 7/12/06 “I haven’t seen much else because my wife still has the Netflix que clogged with Gilmore Girls tell me this is due to your wife Do you have a local library close by? my library fines are so high i can't even drive by the library (or libary to my folk)” 1:40:10 PM 7/12/06 ““If this is a Michael Moore film, it has to be true! Just ask any Progressive! ;-)” That was somewhat striking because the filmaker IS a progressive, non-religious Jew.” 1:41:31 PM 7/12/06 “"tell me this is due to your wife" Yeah it's all her Scooter. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. LOL! The estrogen flow has ended somewhat as I got Rescue Me, and two disks of 30 Days today.” 1:42:42 PM 7/12/06 “man, i really have to start READING things before i respond to them...the answer to my question was right there in you post that's the second time i've done that today ;)” 1:44:44 PM 7/12/06 “it was right there in YOUR post too! i had to read it twice and laughed both times!” 1:47:01 PM 7/12/06 Dr. bitpusher prescribes... “Nigal, you need to rent Fight Club and watch it for a couple days straight.” 6:12:41 PM 7/12/06 “Well, I do have this 50 gallon drum of human fat to get rid of. Maybe watch Fight Club and make some soap?” 6:24:53 PM 7/12/06 “you guys are breaking the first two rules of fight club” 5:27:17 AM 7/13/06 “Man, I’m really digging this 30 Days show. it's done by the guy who made Supersize Me. I watched one where they sent a fundamentalist Christian from West Virginia to live with a Muslim family in Dearborn Michigan. They sent him into Howell (That’s where Dhutch lived) dressed as a Muslim to ask people for signatures for a petition against racial profiling. Hilarious! Another one sent a Christian from Michigan to live with a gay man in the Castro district of San Fran. And another one sent two suv driving, city slicker New Yorkers to spend 30 days on an environmental commune. This big bald dude from the Boogy Down Bronx was out there eating tofu and greens to the point he was out shooting rabbits with a pellet gun just to get some meat. LOL! It’s really interesting to see how these people change and grow over the 30 days.” 9:22:40 AM 7/13/06 “i've seen the muslim one...pretty good stuff...the one where they live on minimum wage is good too...i can't wait for the new ones...what is it, next week?” 9:28:06 AM 7/13/06 “OMG!!! I am watching a movie my kids picked out called Mee-shee. Essentially a helicopter crashed in a very deep lake somewhere in canada and loses a drill head that an oil company must have in order to start drilling on some land somewhere or lose their rights to the land. A dude with a deep submersible is hired to find it. This dude is being helped by the local indians. A loony from greenpeace with an armed submersible is trying to stop them and actually tries to kill the "loch ness monster' type creature living in the lake (Mee-Shee). ((hahahaha) the greenpeace dude just shot a rocket launcher at the Meeshee and the ship the search sub is based on) Anyhoo, the indians and mee-shee are all trying to help the dude find the drill bit for the oil company .” 7:27:28 PM 8/07/06 “Ok, don't worry. the Meeshees killed two greenpeace workers and an innocent helicopter pilot in a huge explosion. Then the submersible dude decides to toss the drill bit back into the lake so the oil company loses its lease. Another happy ending” 7:43:52 PM 8/07/06 “Sounds like somebody has a bizarre sense of humor. Because… in keeping with typical Hollywood tradition, I saw V. As is almost everything created in Hollywood, it was mediocre. I may have enjoyed V, but the stomach churning force feeding of Hollywood propaganda just keeps pissing me off. Who is the bad guy? He’s a “conservative” politician who also happens to be religious. OMG! NOW THAT’S AN ORIGINAL HOLLYWOOD STORYLINE. Then there’s the totally unnecessary homosexual side issue, just in case we forgot that Hollywood represents homosexuals about 5 million times more than they are represented in society. We must be force fed the typical Hollywood agenda that homosexuals are loving individuals just like everyone except for evil “conservatives.” Hollywood is a very sick, and mediocre place.” 6:41:19 PM 8/10/06 “I thought V was great. It had everything most other comic movies don't have, violence and adult content. The whole political twist was great too and the direction and production was good also. Two thumbs up.” 6:49:19 PM 8/10/06 “nigal liked V? your pink slip is showing!!” 7:27:00 PM 8/10/06 “Nigal has great taste in weapons and terrible taste in movies. I've got better knives than V had.” 7:57:18 PM 8/10/06 “LOL Saw the remade The Pink Panther. It isn't as good as the original but it isn't bad.” 8:00:03 PM 8/10/06 “Does anybody else like bald chicks as much as I do? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?” 8:12:02 PM 8/10/06 “going bald made natalie portman almost hot. still needs to gain about 30 pounds and a cheeseburger. V couldve been a great movie if it had concentrated on the dark stuff more” 8:39:29 PM 8/10/06 “I enjoyed V much more than I thought I would. The advantage of low expectations. Because of the mask I kept expecting him to break out in song ala Phantom of the Opera. I'm glad he didn't, but he came close. Portman's lack of acting skills almost made her character believable. All in all, very watchable. arc, you seem to be confusing "conservative" with Fascist. You do know there is a difference, don't you? 8^) Just like one who uses religion as a tool to control others is not really religious. last edited: 8/10/06 10:57:49 PM” 10:49:03 PM 8/10/06 “Actually, I agree Nav, I did enjoy V. .Except for the shell game that Hollywood plays with political philosophy. Nav, the movie specifically said he was a "conservative" politician. What did I confuse about that? Are we getting into another Orwellian discussion of word definitions? The logical extension of most “conservative” thought is anarchy. The logical extension of most “leftist” thought is totalitarianism. So how come, every time the folks in Hollywood create a totalitarian villain, he’s a “conservative”? In fact Hollywood keeps flipping it’s political phiolosophy so that almost every bad idea is “conservative” whether it’s “right-wing” or not.” 5:42:47 AM 8/11/06 “And I'll add to that: EVERY totalitarian regime in the 20th Century was "leftist." They all advocated abolition of private property for the collective good. They all believed in strong centralized government. Hitler's party was socialist. Even religious fundamentalists advocate these ideals. These are not the ideals of free market "conservative" thought. Hollywood is so confused about reality, it's unreal.” 5:59:54 AM 8/11/06 “I don't watch movies to be popular or 'edgy'. I watch them for my personal enjoyment. If I like something I like it. If I don't, I don't. I don't deal in cinematic elitism.” 7:49:20 AM 8/11/06 “same here, nigal, but I still thought it was funny that this family movie "mee-shee" turned every hollywood standard cliche character on its head. But in the end they did throw the drill bit back which of course is going to put Meeshee in danger when the oil company hires someone else to retrieve it. Although I find I am moved more by small budget independent type films, I like big budget hollywood movies for the sheer scale of the production, cool sets, huge explosions, etc, and don't really care what their political slant is. On the other hand, if an actor uses his hollywood personna to push a political agenda in his personal life that I don't agree with (ie: Sean Penn talking about WMD at the oscars, tim robbins and susan serandon stumping for kerry, etc), I do choose not to spend my money to see their film at the theaters. I'll just wait for it to come on cable where I am already paying for it whether I watch it or not.” 8:26:23 AM 8/11/06 “There are so many great small films out there that never even get a chance. Lion’s Gate Films is a good production company that has a lot of good small films and films from over seas as well. But at the same time I loved Pirates of the Carabian II which is wall to wall eye candy. I found a real gem of a film called Rory O’Shea Was Here(also known as Inside I’m Dancing). It’s about two wheelchair bound young guys who advocate for themselves and get out of the facility they are living in and it goes through what they have to go through in living on their own with disabilities.” 8:37:45 AM 8/11/06 “Rory O'Shea was great. I saw that a few months back. I got my wife and kids to watch it and they loved it too. Its very moving and funny, but not at the expense of the actors. The rebel dude is strictly an actor but the other one is really handicapped.” 8:41:28 AM 8/11/06 “arc, I can't defend the actions of Hollywood because of the Major Studios total lack of originality and continual repetition of tired plots (is that redundant?). As far as Orwellian Definitions I give you Dictionary.com: con•ser•va•tive adj. Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change. right wing n : those who support political or social or economic conservatism; those who believe that things are better left unchanged [syn: right] liberal adj 1: showing or characterized by broad-mindedness; "a broad political stance"; "generous and broad sympathies"; "a liberal newspaper"; "tolerant of his opponent's opinions" [syn: broad, large-minded, tolerant] 2: having political or social views favoring reform and progress 3: tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition [ant: conservative left wing n : those who support varying degrees of social or political or economic change designed to promote the public welfare [syn: left] Fascism n : a political theory advocating an authoritarian hierarchical government (as opposed to democracy or liberalism) How do these match up with your conceptions?” 12:03:22 PM 8/11/06 “Just finished Failure To Launch. It's a chick flik but still funny. Lots of physical humor for us guys. The supporting actors stole the show. Two thumbs up.” 8:28:58 PM 8/11/06 “Just finished Failure To Launch. It's a chick flik but still funny. StoveStomper 8:28:58 PM 8/11/06 why it brings up (pun intended) to many bad memories? yup im on a roll tonights folks!” 8:31:26 PM 8/11/06 “ok. so the other day i got a call from twignut in a crying freenzy. she was watching the new "the hills have eyes" it was a very upsetting movie. i found it way over the top the orig one was goofy and entertaining!” 8:33:15 PM 8/11/06 “I am so in lust with Zooey Deschanel right now. She was great! Hey Mapes!!! Terry Bradshaw's naked butt is in this film. I liked to have laughed my guts out.” 8:38:41 PM 8/11/06 Woo Hoo!!! “ ”8:42:29 PM 8/11/06 “Terry bradshaw's butt? yuk barf! old and saggy” 8:46:45 PM 8/11/06 “butt funny!!!!” 8:50:32 PM 8/11/06 “ ”8:50:54 PM 8/11/06 “terrys butt ”8:52:05 PM 8/11/06 “Nigal did you ever watch that weird movie...what was the name again? that russian thriller? I am about to watch final destination 3.... whhooooo looking for a pillow to hide my face in right now.” 8:52:54 PM 8/11/06 “ ![]() Here's his big nude shot, Mapes! LOL” 8:58:26 PM 8/11/06 “The new the hills have eyes was funny to me. It was so over the top.” 8:59:31 PM 8/11/06 Jump to Page << prev
