Best DVD Rentals

“Last night I watched 'Unleashed' with Jet Li, Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins. I was expecting a great martial arts film, and I got it, but I wasn't expecting it to also be a great story with fine acting.

I liked it in the beginning, but I didn't see the end...somewhere along the way it lost my interest.

Strangers With Candy, The Movie - Fell asleep so I'm assuming it wasn't too good. My wife said they didn't capture any of the show's feel at all.

The World's Fastest Indian. - great movie...very entertaining and "feel good" story...the dvd had great extras too”

“Pan's Labyrinth was awesome and the ending was fantastic. It was either the saddest thing you ever saw or your heart soured depending on if you are a "the glass is half full or half empty" kind of person. I chose to believe the fantasy was real and not just a little girls escape mechanism. The movie supports either version. The director had a great way of keeping the fantasy and the reality entwined. For example, the scene near the beginning where the girl is telling a story to her mom and unborn brother. The camera does a pan in through the vagina to the baby as the girl talks and then morphs into the story she is telling and shows the flower that blooms but is surrounded by briers so that it can't be picked. he camera pics up one of the fairy like creatures and follows its path back to the window ledge overlooking the bedroom where the girl is finishing her story to the brother. Fabulous work.”

“I went through the SITC (Sex in the City) phase while Jon was in Afghanistan. I ended up watching the entire series. I'd rent a couple DVDs worth of shows on a Sautrday night, get a bottle of red wine, and spend an evening with the NYC girls. It was pure paperback Harlequin romance type fluff, but I loved every minute of it.

“I saw Pan's Labyrinth this weekend - I'd forgotten that it was subtitled and was a little like "aw crap", but about 15 minutes into it, we stopped noticing the subtitles and really enjoyed the movie.”
