Not quite as good as the book, but a good version.

“I just saw The Descent. I watched it last night with all of the lights turned out and it FREAKED me out a little.

Pretty good flick and I liked that all of the characters were women.

“Apocolypto was awesome. Because Premonition was blessed with the beautiful Sandra Bullock so I couldn't not enjoy watching her, but there seemed to be a lot of essential parts of that movie left on the cutting room floor when they put the film in the can.”

“At the hyway house lately we have been going back through the movies of the 80's and 90's that my daughters have never seen. My daughter recently expressed a desire to be an astronaut so we have been watching a lot of space movies.

Last night we watched Space Camp. I had forgotten how many successful actors were in that movie as kids. We enjoyed it.

On previous nights we have watched Deep Impact (good movie but not a lot of space stuff), Starship Troopers because it is a lot of fun even if it isn't anything like the fine book of the same name, Paycheck was all sciencey and lots of fun to boot.

We have Armageddon in the On Deck circle. That one should be much more "spacey" than Deep Impact and make my future astronaut happy.”

Mostly I’m seeing mainstream recommendations, which is not all bad.


But when I go to the video store I try to check out the obscure little flicks that nobody’s ever heard of or that haven’t got much advertising behind them. I know that’s not a shocker to many people who have read my posts over the years.

Sometimes I get a Plan 9 from Outer Space (see Alien 3000). But sometimes I get a gem. And that makes it all worthwhile.

This is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in years. It’s smart, funny, and a very creative concept. Just when I thought Hollywood had run out of ideas…
