That guy was just spooky. I felt the movie got all dressed up to go somewhere and then it drops you off in the middle of nowhere scratching your damn head. I did see that Javier Bardem is playing Pablo Escabar in Killing Pablo based on the book by Mark Bowden who also wrote Blackhawk Down.” 2:17:36 AM 3/12/08 “I thought Vincent Chase played Escobar. About half-way through no country for old men I got the feeling that the movie wasn't heading for Hollywood Blvd and it was probably going to end up badly for everyone lol.” 5:06:58 AM 3/12/08 “I thought he was tied into a contract to do Aquaman II? lol!” 10:18:46 AM 3/12/08 “We watched Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium last night - good, but not as good as I expected...” 6:21:30 AM 3/13/08 “Atonement...WOW and My Kid Could Paint That...also a wow (but not an all caps wow)” 2:21:45 PM 3/23/08 “Southland Tales. This was written by the guy who did Donnie Darko. This movie was even worse than Darko. Complete waste of time. Twin Peaks is out on DVD now and I'm watching the first season. I never even saw the show when it was on TV. Very good IMHO and I generally hate David Lynch's stuff.” 3:02:09 AM 3/24/08 “Donnie Darko, was a good film the first time I watched it. I rarely watch it anymore since knowing whats going on takes away from the enjoyment.” 4:28:02 AM 3/24/08 “August Rush was pretty darn good.” 5:22:14 AM 3/24/08 “oh. and No Country For Old Men. beyond creepy, but very entertaining. and Dan in Real Life was a good 'happy' movie. a no-brainer, if you will. :)” 7:38:54 AM 3/24/08 “gotta new born at home so i've been watching lots of DVDs...let's see: No Country for Old Men and American Gangster - Both great films with amazing casting. Death at a Funeral - Normally I do not like British comedy but this one was pretty funny. Martian Child - Very heartwarming. Was afraid it was going to be cliché but it turned out nicely. Also picked up the 6th season of Scrubs. Aside from the current season my collection is complete.” 1:20:27 PM 3/24/08 “ohoh! must agree with Martian Child. im a huge fan of john cusack, but the real star of this movie was the little boy. (the extras were also very good, but im a dork like that) i didnt like american ganster though. i found it incredibly boring, and could not get involved in the story line whatsoever. but maybe i need to give it another chance. and one more, because this was the longest winter EVER. across the universe. i dont know how i forgot about that but it was Excellent. AMAZING, in fact.” 1:25:33 PM 3/24/08 “i'm a fan of the gangster genre...i think a lot of those films are boring and hard to follow if you don't like the genre...i also saw his true story on the history channel and that made it a little more interesting as well” 1:30:37 PM 3/24/08 “totally agree. and for every mood theres a different movie. may have just watched it on the wrong night. everytime im at blockbuster i look at death at a funeral, carry it around with me for a bit, and then end up getting something else. is it worth the almost 5 bucks?” 1:36:18 PM 3/24/08 “$5!!!!...i just realized you're a fellow hoosier...where you spending $5 for a movie at blockbuster?...i'm in indy and just paid $12 for 4 movies including death at a funeral ...but to answer your question i think so...it was very funny...lots of side plots” 1:42:27 PM 3/24/08 “lucky! its 4.55 per new release movie at our blockbuster in fishers. and we really have no other options. i would love to have a family video...MUCH cheaper, but there arent any around!! we're thinking of joining netflix soon.” 1:49:04 PM 3/24/08 “oh, i see...they can get away with charging the richies more LOL...just kiddin...extreme outfitters is the same way...waaaay more expensive than rusted moon...they can get away with it because of where they're at netflix is a good deal providing you keep your queue updated...i've wasted a little money in the summer...never wanted to watch DVDs have we met? last edited: 3/24/08 1:46:28 PM” 1:52:38 PM 3/24/08 “so did NOT choose to live here. haha. im from the south side and the west side, never EVER thought i'd be living on the north side. (its worth it for the boy :D ) i dont believe we've met? meangreen introduced me to the site b/c i work with him, and i havent really met anyone else Yet. he's been trying to get me to go on a trip for awhile now, and it appears im finally caving. :)” 2:00:34 PM 3/24/08 “i'm a southsider too but work in carmel LOL, aaron's a nice guy...i've hiked with him a couple times...he'd be a good one to go on a first trip with” 2:02:55 PM 3/24/08 ““i'm a fan of the gangster genre..." For me, Goodfellas is my favorite of the gangster movies. Donnie Broscoe is right up there too. I've watched all three Godfather movies and I wasn't all that impressed. The first one was good, the second one was OK but the third one sucked. I also want the complete Sopranoes on dvd.” 3:53:40 AM 3/25/08 “i don't own a lot of movies but good fellows and donnie broscoe are ones i do and both are in heavy rotation...and of course there's always reservoir dogs i rewatched rain over me last week...one of my favorite films...i really thought adam sandler did a great job in this serious roll and thought the critics and press ignored him” 5:48:16 AM 3/25/08 “the movies that I own that I rewatch a lot are A Knights Tale, Braveheart, Airheads, The Princess Bride, We Were Soldiers, Blackhawk Down” 5:59:57 AM 3/25/08 “watched into the wild last night. SLOW! I read & enjoyed the book in an afternoon. The movie seemed to take just as long.” 6:05:43 AM 3/25/08 “i loved we were soldiers...i bought the book but haven't forced myself to read it yet...i have trouble with books thick as phone books” 6:07:17 AM 3/25/08 “Blackhawk Down is based on my company. Bravo 3/75 RGR. I just had an ACL replacement o couldn't go. Blackburn, the kid who fell out of the helicopter, was my AG.” 6:14:31 AM 3/25/08 “I know AG as in adjutant general, but I don't think that is what you meant. Whats an ag?” 6:29:03 AM 3/25/08 “oh, and Serenity. I don't own it but I keep renting it to watch over and over again. I guess I should buy it” 6:31:53 AM 3/25/08 “Assistant gunner. ”7:36:01 AM 3/25/08 “I just saw Harrison's Flowers. It was excellent. Anyone else seen this? About a woman (Andie McDowell who was great in it) who goes to look for her missing photojournalist husband during the Yugoslavia war. Has Adrian Brody in it also. It was pretty brutal but really gripping.” 8:05:02 AM 3/25/08 “anyone else have a severe hatred for an actor/actress but don't really have a valid reason why?...for some reason that's my feelings of andie mcdowell...i can't explain it” 8:07:06 AM 3/25/08 “hyway, dont watch serenity if you havent seen the firefly series (which i highly recommend you do) it wont make any sense unless youve seen the series” 8:13:08 AM 3/25/08 “I know but she's good in it.” 8:16:54 AM 3/25/08 “I saw Serenity at the movie theater before I knew about the firefly series. It was great and stood on its own just fine. Since then I have watched the entire firefly series, in the order it was supposed to air, several times. They are great too. My girls and are great fans of both shows. Their screensaver for the longest time was a Farewell to Wash memorial type thing. Like I said above. I have watched Serenity many times.” 8:21:46 AM 3/25/08 “oh nevermind then” 6:40:34 PM 3/25/08 “By the time I'm done paying late fees - even with the buck a night red box - I may as well own them, so I buy a lot of DVDs. Recently, I got The Bee Movie, I Am Legend, Princess Bride, In the Realms of the Unreal, and Wild Parrots of Telegragh Hill. The first 2 were new releases, and the other 3 are movies I've seen but wanted.” 6:18:05 AM 3/26/08 “LOL, i'm the same way...there's still a couple libraries in town i'm affraid to drive by” 6:31:28 AM 3/26/08 “I stopped using the library for videos. The free checkouts was getting too expensive” 6:37:03 AM 3/26/08 “[ last edited: 3/28/08 6:27:49 AM” 6:24:27 AM 3/28/08 “must not have been a very good movie?” 6:29:03 AM 3/28/08 “Hey Currahee, how big was your company? The reason I ask is because I ran into a guy in my home town who said he was part of that company too, and showed me a bunch of pictures, and some of his memorabilia. But after the movie, I'm sure there are lots of folks who "were in that exact company". I'm just wondering if this guy is full of it or not.” 4:36:05 PM 3/28/08 “I didn't care for No Country for Old Men, but loved Sweeney Todd” 10:30:16 AM 4/07/08 “We rented 3:10 to Yuma awhile back ~ I thought it was a great movie.” 11:20:18 AM 4/07/08 “Yuma was pretty good. I had read a review that it was a bit depressing, but the acting was so superb that it made depressing good. I likes No country for what it was. A shoot em up without much redeeming value :). last night we watched one of our favorite flicks ... A princess bride.” 11:25:51 AM 4/07/08 “i thought no country was all right...the story line wasn't incredibly creative but the casting was spot on” 11:30:14 AM 4/07/08 “I agree, thrifty...” 11:31:29 AM 4/07/08 “No Country for Old Men left me confused at the end. Doesn't take much sometimes but eh. Agree w/thrifty about the casting though! hyway ~ I watched Princess Bride a couple of weeks ago (for the millionth time). That's one of my all time favorites.” 11:39:02 AM 4/07/08 “my daughter and I think the best scene of all filmdom is where Inigo catches Count Rugen in the castle and chases him down to the banquet room where he finally confronts him ... Count Rugen: [Inigo stands up after getting stabbed by a knife thrown by Count Rugen] Good heavens. Are you still trying to win? Count Rugen: [Inigo falls back against the wall] You've got an overdeveloped sense of vengeance. It's going to get you into trouble someday. Count Rugen: [Rugen draws his sword and lunges at Inigo who then forces the blade to his left shoulder. Again Rugen lunges at Inigo and the blade is deflected to Inigo's right arm] Inigo Montoya: [Rugen swings his sword but Inigo blocks it and then begins advancing] Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die. Inigo Montoya: [He falls on a table. Rugen attacks and Inigo blocks four times before he continues to advance on Rugen] Inigo Montoya: Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die. Count Rugen: [Now Rugen attacks five times and Inigo blocks every single one] Inigo Montoya: [Louder] Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die. Count Rugen: Stop saying that! Inigo Montoya: [Rugen attacks and Inigo blocks it and then stabs Rugen in the shoulder. Then Rugen swings his sword. Inigo ducks and stabs Rugen in the other shoulder. Then he advances quickly and they fight] Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya! You killed my father prepare to die! Count Rugen: [Rugen gets his sword knocked away and Inigo slices his cheek] No! Inigo Montoya: Offer me money Count Rugen: Yes Inigo Montoya: Power too promise that! [he slices Rugen's other cheek] Count Rugen: All that I have and more. Please. Inigo Montoya: Offer me everything I ask for. Count Rugen: Anything you want. [Rugen attacks but Inigo grabs his arm and stabs Rugen in the stomach] Inigo Montoya: I want my father back you son of a #&%!$. [Inigo plunches the sword into Rugen's gut and he falls down dead]” 11:56:04 AM 4/07/08 “is the Kite Runner appropriate for my worldly 12 and 14 year old daughters?” 7:29:54 PM 4/07/08 “I haven't seen the movie but I wouldn't let them read the book yet. It's pretty brutal and sad.” 8:25:44 PM 4/07/08 “My 14 yo is a freshman in high school. I would think a realistic representation (as opposed to gratuitous violence) of regimes like the taliban would be appropriate for her world view. The 12 yo is the one I was really concerned with. She probably wouldn't want to see it anyway.” 9:41:44 PM 4/07/08 “Kite Runner was a great movie and is OK for 12-14 year olds. It has lots of subtitles but it was still good. Much better than No Country.” 12:15:31 AM 4/08/08 Jump to Page << prev
