they can handle subtitles. After Pan's Labyrinth and the multitudes of subtitled japanese anime they watch they are old hands at it.

The parental warning mentions a child rape scene. I was concerned about how graphic that may be. I suppose I should just go ahead and watch it twice, once to review and then a second time with them.

The rape scene is three adolescent boys holding down another boy and the rape is mostly implied.

It was supposed to rain this weekend, so we rented movies…surprisingly, all four were worth watching.

Rendition, Into the Wild, The Water Horse, and Nancy Drew.
Rendition was awesome.

whats it about?

The CIA detains a man suspected of being involved in terrorist activity and take him to a country where torture is used to get info.
That’s the basic plot, but it has lots of twists and turns, great casting, and the way the story unfolds keeps it interesting…

thanks for the heads up. I'd forgotten about that movie. I'll rent that soon.

I just saw The Mist on ppv.
That stinker has to be right up there in the list of top ten stupid movies.

It has the most sucky ending of any movie I've seen.

The plot is that giant alien bugs are eating a bunch of people trapped in a store in MN.

Twiggy would kick the crap out of the bugs.

Watched Cloverfield last night. The ending sucked.

I've also been watching a great show called 4400.

I've seen some of the 4400 shows, but never watched an entire season - looked good though.

I rented Walk Hard, which was pretty funny...and Charlies Wilson's War which was good.

Watched Juno last night. It was an OK movie, the main character was pretty funny. As the father of a 14 yo daughter though, I don't like the message it sends. The girl gets pregnant, her life barely changes during the pregnancy other than a few nasty looks, she finds a rich couple to pay all her bills so they can adopt the baby, dad and stepmom are cool with everything, and after its all over she goes right back to being a happy teenage girl, with an easy uncomplicated relationship with her boyfriend. No angst about giving up the baby or anything else. Just oops, I got pregnant but its all better now.

I'd rather my daughter watched a teenage pregnancy movie where the girls life falls apart and she ends up on the street with a screaming brat latched onto her painfully engorged boobs. :)

I watched Juno as well - mostly because from the commercials I was getting that it was funny, and I wanted to know what was so funny about a teen pregnancy. The movie was good, but I agree with hyway...
I watched Knocked Up for the same reasons...

Just watched Eastern Promise, with my man Viggo...the best scene in the movie was the fight in the bath house...

It's OK dude. It's cool to watch a chick flick sometimes. It shows you are sensitive, that you take an interest in things she likes and that you just want to be with her. Unless of course you watched it alone in which case you're a big homo. LOL!

I watched:

Golden Compass...3 out of 5 stars.
The Adramada Strain...3 out of 5 stars.

Did you read The Golden Compass? I enjoyed the movie, but I wondered if it would make any sense if you hadn't read the book.

I saw Juno on the airplane and thought it was so good I rented it for my wife to see and watched it again with her.
Note to self: Do not watch movies on the airplane, they cut WAY too much out.
To use Nigals system: 5 out of 5 stars.

Charlie Wilson's War...4 out of 5 stars.
Tom Hanks is good in anything he does.

Untraceable...2 out of 5 stars.
It got 2 stars because Diane Lane is still HOT!
The bad guy hacks into the secure police computer but she still feels it's OK to talk on her cell phone.

Savages...0 out of 5 stars.
I was hoping for some dark humor (the trailers teased me into thinking that), but I could only make it 1/2 way through this depressing P.O.S.

I watched The Bridge last night. In 2004, the filmmaker spent a year filming people jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge. It profiled who these people were, interviews with their families/friends, interviews with survivors, why the GG is the top destination in the world to attempt suicide, etc. It's not exactly an uplifting film, but it's really interesting. His wide angle shots from a bluff, where you can see the whole bridge, see a spec falling off it and then a tremendous white splash in the blue water, are very startling and haunting.

Swiss Miss (1938)

I don't wanna know what that is in California ---- ROF

The highlight was Oliver Hardy singing "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" while Stan Laurel accompanied him on the tuba.
