Or maybe I did but came in the middle of an episode. Actually I don't watch Sci-Fi channel much anymore since they started showing so many of their own sucky movies, lol...” 4:02:17 PM 10/26/04 “I only "Night Visions" one time, but it was good... I love Sci-fi movies! I always check that channel first.” 4:09:07 PM 10/26/04 “If they would show good sci-fi movies I would watch the sci-fi channel. One night I was watching TV, and Turner Classic Movies was showing "Forbidden Planet", while on Sci-Fi Channel they were showing one of their original "sci-fi" movies which was some detective story with a psychic woman as the protagonist or some such crap. The irony was thick enough to cut with a knife, lol...” 4:20:00 PM 10/26/04 “The Day After-- I saw about 3 minutes of it (towards the end of the film) at my my friends' house.) it was enough for me not to bother to rent it. (unfortunately for her, she bought it sight unseen...) The 2 lead actors popped out of their snow-bound tents BAREHANDED-- put their hands in the snow and then stand up. Their hats aren't even snugly buttoned or anything... in fact the guy who stood up-- his hands were DRY..... Okay, that's realistic..... NOT!!! Isn't this supposed to be about the worst storm ever over NYC? I mean-- it was supposed to have so much snow that the Empire State bldg starts to frost up visibly and the Statue of Liberty is buried? AND... you would get out of a tent without gloves and not be screaming in pain? I'd rather eat dirt than watch this movie.... last edited: 10/26/04 4:50:28 PM” 4:49:43 PM 10/26/04 “Only pinky would turn a movie off because of a wardrobe malfunction. LOL! I love watching shows on dvd. My wife and I got into Kingdom Hospital but they moved it around so much we didn't get to the see the last half of the series. We watched the whole season in one weekend. And I HAD to own Dave Chapelle's first season. Classic. One of the best shows I've watched on dvd though is Dead Like Me Season 1.” 5:00:34 PM 10/26/04 “no glove in snow = brain malfunction, not a wardrobe malfunction.... Hey Nigal--how realistic is it to have a foot of snow and none on the roof of your tent? And what about your hands not getting wet from the snow when you had them immersed up to your forearms so that you could crawl out of your tent? ;-P My dibs is on the "brain malfunction...in the prop director's head...." ;-D” 5:08:46 PM 10/26/04 “It was a DRY cold...heh heh. Actually I liked that movie....unbelievable but had good special effects. Not enough bodies though....” 1:49:02 AM 10/27/04 "irreverent and funny as hell" “Nige - I just rented Saved over the weekend. Your description was right on target!” 6:35:43 AM 10/27/04 “Both NY and LA get creamed and you thing The Day After was a bad movie? WTF? Get a grip. j/k” 6:42:22 AM 10/27/04 “Yeah Tara it was funny. My favorite line was when Mcculkin and the jewish girl saw the christian girl coming out of planned parenthood... McCully: Well, there's only one reason a good christian girl would be coming out of the abortion clinic. jewish girl: Pipe bomb? McCully: OK, two reasons.” 8:01:54 AM 10/27/04 “Friday we rented Chicago and Raising Helen and still haven't had time to watch them. Raising Helen was due this past Sunday. Nigal, now that's funny. My brother in law in in pharmecuetical sales with a birth control pill company. He disagrees with abortion, but is astounded at all the whacko protesters. He said that he doesn't run into too much, but that friends that do the same thing he does in metro areas really have stories.” 8:08:08 AM 10/27/04 “"Friday we rented Chicago and Raising Helen and still haven't had time to watch them. Raising Helen was due this past Sunday" -dayhiker And that's the reason we dropped Blockbuster and started with Wal-Mart's DVD rental service (they really need a catchy name like Netflix). I figure I'm paying about the same as I used to in rental/late fees, but no hassles. Check it out, or one of the competitors.” 11:04:25 AM 10/27/04 “yeah, I had that movie "Ned something" never got to watch it, but had to pay two days late fees! I don't usually rent enuff to justify another monthly bill - I hate monthly bills - and cable is almost $50 just for extended basic.” 11:11:09 AM 10/27/04 “Blockbuster has a new thing where you pay a flat rate each month and have no due dates... It's okay if you like to watch LOTS of movies (or if you're late all of the time!) Problem is that if you dont' watch a lot of movies (1-5 movies a month) then you are paying more per movie.... you might as well buy 'em if you don't rent a lot!... Chicago was a good movie, especially if you like musicals. I haven't seen Raising Helen yet, what's it about?” 11:11:37 AM 10/27/04 “I've used Netflix before, but just couldn't keep up with the flow. We just don't watch enough to justify it now.” 11:14:21 AM 10/27/04 “that's exactly why I don't subscribe to Cable TV or satellite dishes either... I figure that I already don't have time to watch Regular TV--if you add on additional channels, I'd be wasting my money.... I'd rather rent them when I want to watch them or just go to the movies (Thinkbubelz and I only go about 3-4 times a year, if even that...)” 11:16:27 AM 10/27/04 “I do actually watch the cable channels I get. Movies these days are pumped out so fast, most main stream movies don't have a lot of thought put into them. Lot's of times when I rent the "hot new release" I return it after only watching the first 10 minutes or half hour. Plus, they'll all be on TV someday... It's easier/cheaper to change the channel...” 11:20:24 AM 10/27/04 “I like watching the PBS stations-- at least you learn something! I watch some other sitcoms and series, but usually, I have other things to do with my time... :-) working on artwork, spending time with Thinkbubelz or my friends, posting on TT..... LOL.... You're right though-- a lot of the new releases are pretty bad! That's why I usually wait for the DVD to come out, too.... At least when you go to the movie theatre, it's more about going to dinner and hanging with your friends and eatting the movie popcorn vs. just watching the movie. :-)” 11:24:23 AM 10/27/04 “You're right there...I'm not a movie theatre going person, but a few years ago a friend talked me into going to the local movie house that shows independent/foreign films. We usually have dinner/drinks as well...we've seen some good stuff and some strange stuff, but always interesting... last edited: 10/27/04 11:36:21 AM” 11:29:13 AM 10/27/04 “independent films usually make you think more-- I like the fact that many are low-budget, but still well produced and executed... :-)” 3:59:16 PM 10/27/04 “McCully: Well, there's only one reason a good christian girl would be coming out of the abortion clinic. jewish girl: Pipe bomb? McCully: OK, two reasons.” Nigal 8:01:54 AM ROTFLMAO I have to rent this now.” 5:28:31 PM 10/27/04 “Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 are good if you dont mind the gore and bad language.” 5:47:22 PM 10/27/04 “I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Kill Bill movies.” 5:50:21 PM 10/27/04 “I can't wait for Hero to come out on DVD. I'm buying that fo shizzle.” 8:00:31 PM 10/27/04 “Nigal, you're late...Hero's already out on DVD. I got mine in Chinatown this summer...and one of my friends got his last year.” 3:27:52 AM 10/28/04 “I'm counting the days to get Shrek II!” 8:03:32 AM 10/28/04 “Amazon has it coming out on November 4th. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00030590I/qid=1098969230/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-3327511-1510220?v=glance&s=dvd” 8:40:53 AM 10/28/04 “Nigal, keep up,stanlee is referring to guys in trench coats full of pirated videos. Sort of like the Seinfeld episdoe where Kramer is taping movies in the theatres.” 8:46:52 AM 10/28/04 “On your recomendations I rented The Day After Tomorrow. Just for the special FX. Why didn't you guys say it's a comedy?” 1:05:50 AM 10/30/04 “No dayhiker...this is the real deal. The stores in Chinatowns of any major cities, will probably have it (Hero). "Hero"'s been out earlier in China and Hong Kong. Similar to alot of Jackie Chan movies...when we get to see some of his movies in the cinema....it's already 5 or 6 years old...and usually some stores carry the DVD.” 3:09:34 AM 10/30/04 “I just rented Monster. Very disturbing, but very good flick!” 2:02:34 AM 10/31/04 “I cant bear to see the beautiful Charlize Theron looking like that in "Monster".” 3:09:26 AM 11/01/04 “Watched "Boys on the Side", my wife's pick for this weekend. Definitely a chick flick, a tear-jerker at the end. But a good one, I recommend it. Good acting, good story line.” 9:49:59 AM 11/01/04 “boys on the side? what a crappy flick. i can't stand drew b. i give it a 3 1/2 i give monster a 6 1/2. charlize is one hell of an actress. it takes some serious acting ability for a chick that hot to make me wretch at the site of her.” 9:57:40 AM 11/01/04 “I jsut watched prince of darkness, it was very lame.” 9:59:09 AM 11/01/04 “I joined Netflix again. That means I will be able to give more reviews on bad movies than good. You can get so many movies a month for one price that it makes you rent out anything and everything. I saw the Italian (subtitles) movie, "I'm Not Scared". It was good, but not great. I also saw the "Heist" with Gene Hackman and Danny Devito and that was very good.” 2:33:02 PM 11/01/04 How can you RENT them, “OOPS!!!! I thought it was BVD. My bad” 3:14:49 PM 11/02/04 “I watched Elf last night and I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. Will is just hilarious!” 9:32:25 AM 11/20/04 “I watched Elf last night too. I really enjoyed it. My wife liked it but said that it must be a guy thing.” 9:54:14 AM 11/20/04 “I'm about to watch The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on DVD. I watched it when it came out a few years back. Good film.” 12:30:15 AM 11/21/04 “We watched White Chicks and Harry Potter III this past weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by White Chicks and a bit disappointed in Potter. I think it had to do with my expectations. I didn't expect much from WC. I expected a good bit from Potter since III was my favorite in the series. It was a good movie, the book just sets a very high bar.” 11:06:05 AM 12/06/04 “Saw Lost in Translation this weekend. A must-miss. If one word could describe this movie, it would be: huh? What little plot there was moved slow as molassas, character development was nil, and nothing really happened. Lots of pretty scenes of Tokyo and surroundings but little else.” 11:09:13 AM 12/06/04 “No kidding tech. I was like, "WTF?". The only reason that turd got any play at all is because Ford Copala's daughter made it.” 11:35:08 AM 12/06/04 “Yeah, when the credits started to roll and I saw her name I thought "so that explains it." Again: HUH?” 11:56:47 AM 12/06/04 “I think people just wanted to see if Bill Murray got to bang Scarlett Johansson.” 11:58:47 AM 12/06/04 “i thought it was a bit over-rated but i still liked it for the performances of the lead actors. murray and johannsen (sp?) had remarkable chemistry. i think, as american audiences, we're too used to a movie having to have big action and/or major revelations, so if there isnt a 180 degree turnaround in someones character, then its perceived as no character development. the character development was there, but it was more of a nudge in a slightly different direction than life-shattering events causing a sharp turn. the tension was sharpened by real-world things that we take for granted in the movies: will they or wont they consummate their feelings? in the movies, the two characters jump into bed by the second act or earlier, but in real life, its not always like that i just picked up fellowship of the ring extended edition from the library. sweet! anyone interested in science, especially astrophysics, should check out the nova miniseries the elegant universe. its a mindblowing presentation of string theory for us mathematic non-super-geniuses. saved! is a good teen comedy set in a christian high school. i love the library!” 12:12:28 PM 12/06/04 “oh, and SJ has a great ass!” 12:14:04 PM 12/06/04 “I borrowed the elegant universe from my brother but haven't watched it yet. Dayhiker I like HP3 more than the other two movies much the same I don't see how they can capture all that happens in books 4 and 5 in film. But then again LOTR did pretty darn good job in that regard.” 12:16:14 PM 12/06/04 “Harry Potter III was just too condenced. DH's right the books are just too good do them any justice.” 12:20:16 PM 12/06/04 “tim hunter could kick harry potters ass any day” 12:21:31 PM 12/06/04 Jump to Page << prev
