I just got this online program...
You can make your own personal maps.

I "downloaded" the map tools and was placing GPS waypoints on my map. But sheeyat, if you place one wrong, how do you get rid of it???

I discovered -- too late -- that every where you click, if you have "GPS waypoints" selected, it will mark them. I want them gone, to start over. However, I started over with a fresh map of the area, clicked on the "GPS waypoints" feature to attempt to place my ONE point anew.... and all the old ones were there.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! Help!!!

What device and software do you have?

I have the Garmin Mapsource software and a Garmin eMap (no longer for sale). As I recall, I just delete the waypoint on the waypoint list.

On my device, I think the waypoint screen has a delete option.

I don't think you can delete the waypoint from the map itself.

Phil, you actually use the program online, downloading nothing to a personal computer. (their "download" in essence just means you choose to use the extra mapping tools available at their site)

Using TopoUSA you have to move to a whole different tab to change projects, which is similar to erasing everything and starting over.

A shortcut is to highlight an individual waypoint and then just use the delete key. Don't know if that will work for you or not.

No "delete" keys that I can see... believe me, I looked, and also went through their faq.

The maps are cool. Some day I'll upgrade to a better GPS and then go bonkers with the mapping software. Wow, I'm getting excited just thinking about it. LOL! j/k

This program is kind of like www.topozone.com

It is cool in that you can freehand draw a line on the map and it will measure distances. woooo hooooo!!! lol

I meant the delete key on the keyboard. Oh god...you're not on a Mac are ya?

Yeah, my Mac just went KABOOM and deleted itself into thin air. LOL! I'm only on a Mac at work. I officially hate my iMac. Course, I pretty much officially hate my PC at home, too. Have finally resolved myself to having to do a factory restore (my 'puter is so 'f'ed up, I can't even do a system restore!) So I am busy burning CDs... and looking for software key Nos.

I just got an eMac for work...haven't used Macs in years. As I am a computer programmer, I often cuss at computers, getting used to the new MacOS I tell it that I hate it all the time. But I equally hate my PC (well, okay, not as much as the Mac). But hey, the Mac is growing on me. Now to figure out how to get the CD drive to open now that the new eject key doesn't work....
