scorchfire...
Hawk Mtn is the stomping grounds for Stratusloop and his daughter. It is a wonderful place known for the migration of hawks. Now would be the time to get out to see it.

I have been to HM many times and always found it to be full of adventure and wilderness...it is a day hike place...no overnight camping.

You can turn it into an overnight by pcking up the AT

You can't pick up the AT in Pennsylvania. The rocks weigh it down too much!

The portion of the AT that runs by Hawk Mt. Sanctuary is my favorite section in PA.

yeah,,.
I especially like bouldering on the River of Rocks...good place to practice balance and rock hopping. Thats where I learned all my hopping skills from. I used to love bouldering, but on my last Rocky trip...I bouldered over a mile on a severe slope, and the dang boulders were movin as I was landing on them...and all I could think about was sheet...if I fall, and get caught, I'm gonna have to saw my arm off and hike out. I don't like boulderin no more, or at least not at a 45-50% angle.

Breaking my leg cured me of enjoying boulder hopping. But then sometimes it's the only way to get where you're going.

freakin...
rock alley...or some such name up in the Gap on the AT...on the way to Sunfish Pond...I always hated that section, but then again, that was a long time ago, when I was a tenderfeet...now, I'm longshanks, a tried and true Ranger of the North...I'll laugh at the River of Rocks and bound across them like an elf on fire...LOL
