Is your Oct 10-12 trip on?
Hi WannaBP - is your second Desolation trip still a "go"? I'd like t hook-up with you guys if possible... email or post here.

Desolation, Oct 10 - 12, in at Wright's Lake again, staying at the first Twin Lake this time, cross country to the little lake above and between the Twins and Island. Hmmmmmmmm, that's on the way to Mt. Price. Maybe....... but we'll have at least one newbie with us.

Pepper, come again and stay the night. You're welcome to share our stove and filter.

We'll be looking for other Northern CA TTers. We saw one group last weekend and thought it might be Tahoe, but when I asked if they were from Trail Talk, it obviously made no sense to them."

I've gone up to people and asked them if they were TT'ers - it is a strange experience. Last fall I was with a friend looking for some So Cal TT'ers I didn't know so I went up to a couple of groups of men and asked if I might be looking for them. I forget how I put it but I got some strange responses and quickly decided that I was getting the wrong type of attention.

Wanderer - I wouldn't rule it out but I am going to be on my feet all day Friday and Saturday and don't know if I will be up for even a quickie hike, and I don't know if I could get to the trailhead early enough. Can I be the Modern Woman and have it all???

Your call, Pepperdog!
You CAN have it all, just keep me posted on how you feel!

I want to bring my dog (he's 12 years old now and has some arthritic problems), because I know he'd like to get out & romp around. I can, and might, scale-back my participation in the hike, and decide not to take Tucker the Wonder-Dog if he's not feeling up to it.

Wanderer, the trip is definitely still a go. The participants keep changing and are now all riding in our car, so our arrival time is more flexible. You are welcome to join us. At this point, I prefer Island Lake since the group size has shrunk.
What time would you be thinking of arriving?

I'd like to come up Friday nite if I can, Sat A.M. at the latest. Still working out some work-related details, but it SURE would be nice to escape for a couple days, hope to know 4 sure tomorrow.

I'm guessing you're still leaving from Wright's Lake?

I will have to play it by ear and see how the dog event goes. If I am pretty much done by 2 I could get to the trailhead by 3 and have plenty of daylight hours to get up there and meet up with y'all. Thanks for the offer of water filter use and cooking stuff - of course I would carry my own food (but if you could carry my tent I would be eternally greatful!!).

We're leaving from Wright's Lake TH around 11AM. We plan to camp at Island Lake in the same place as before -- about the middle of the north side. We will be day hiking to the lake above and between Island and Twin on Sat, maybe even going for the summit of Mt. Price.
Maybe see you there.
