Red Slate Mtn (13,123'), Sierra Nevada, CA

“Photos: McGee Creek, Red Slate Mtn, Fall Colors backpack

Five of us backpacked from McGee Creek TH (7,900') to Big McGee Lake (10,500'). Four of the five post here at Sierra Pack Trip (Snow Nymph, Calhiker, MtFlyer and Wind Walker). Calhiker's brother Steve was the 5th person, but doesn't post.

Snow Nymph, Calhiker and Steve left camp Sunday at 6:45am and were on Red Slate Mountain (13,123') by 9:35am. We left the top at 10:40am, and got to camp by 12:15pm. Packed up and out. I filled a 256 mb card, started on a 2nd one, and used 3 batteries. It was tough to post only 60 pics.

MtFlyer got a later start and hiked to McGee Pass (11,900'). He looked at Red Slate Mountain and figured we'd be awhile so he headed back, packed up and packed out.

Wind Walker decided to hike out early and visit the Bristlecone Pine forest and work on a photography class assignment.”
