biodegradeable wipes?

are they or not?
I always lug out my baby wipes when I can't burn 'em because they don't biodegrade in the outhouse. But what about the flushable wipes?

Sometimes I use a flushable wipe at home to clean my bathroom. I notice when I throw it in the toilet it breaks up very quickly.

I found Cottonelle Fresh® Folded Wipes that are flushable. I was wondering if this meant they were biodegradable and would be ok to throw down the outhouse as well. This is the answer the Cottonelle site gives:

"Are Cottonelle Fresh® Folded Wipes biodegradable?
By weight, approximately 90 percent of the Cottonelle Fresh®; Folded Wipes composition is wood pulp and water, which are common, biodegradable ingredients."

So does that mean the remaining 10% is plastic and therefore, can't be thrown down the outhouse? How much of the regular wipes are plastic?

whaddya think?

It's my understanding that plastic lives forever when buried, and that most wipes contain a certain amount of plastic which is why they don't belong in the outhouse. Also, is "eventually" before the rangers have to shovel out the outhouses and pick the remnants out of the crap, or before?

I'd like to throw them down the outhouse, but won't do it if someone has to pick up after me. Maybe what's left with the flushable ones is too small to worry about.

I'd never leave wipes or TP on the trail, not even buried.
