“How am I wrong, Bobo? You said this site has gone downhill and that there is no one new worth meeting. I said thats not true and that lots of new people are cool. I didn't say you hike with a "special" crowd. I said you found your core group of friends and don't feel the need to make new ones (if you want to argue that then we are back to the notion that you think everyone new is not worth meeting, which is not what I think you were saying). After all, isn't that why most of us came here anyway, to find people to hike with?

There are still big events. There were at least 30 TTers at Traildays. There is an even bigger event planned in November, (TT Basic Skills trip). This past weekend had two, count them two, big TT get togethers. I missed the lost cove one because my family is pretty big on Harry Potter so we stayed home to read :).

My point is that TT is still doing what it did in the 90's. Its bringing people together who had very few people to hike with before they found TT and forming them into a somewhat dysfunctional family. Go back and reread old threads. there were plenty of dust-ups and disagreements. There has always been an "In Crowd" as seen by new users, sometimes there have been several "In Crowds" at the same time. And they have always evolved into a new "In crowd". When people say that TT just isn't the same anymore, what they are really say is that the group they used to have so much fun with has dwindled and a new group is trashing TT and calling new users trolls and they just don't feel a part of that group.”
