HA HA HA HA HA!!! Just kidding! A thread on backpacking? HA HA!! Threw everyone off, didn't I? I mean, a thread on BACKPACKING, at thebackpacker.com? HA HA HA HA! Whew! Good times... good times. Where in the http: double-tooth-picks did I come up with THAT random concept! Oh man, stop it, that's too much! Good one, Buck! Ahem. Okay, I'll sit down now. Please, everyone, please go back to your regularly scheduled topics while I get the WWW dot backslash backslash back to skydiving.com where we discuss underwater welding techniques and the best way to roast a weenie.

I like to talk about non-backpacking topics on TT and save backpacking topics for the trail.

That was TIC, but I find that I when I am on the trail I can actually forget about unpleasant things at work or other things causing me stress. It really is a chance to decompress, relax, and have fun. On most of the TT trips I have been on we didn't talk about politics because there were all points on the spectrum present and our friendships were worth more than our political differences.

SierraPalooza 2003 was definitely the most scenic backpacking trip I have ever been on in my life. The Llama-Rama trips were awesome and the company marvelous.

Ya gotta love these threads. I think it's a right of passage for newbies. Make a thread crying about off topic threads, get ripped by the regulars, calm down, settle in, and then start your own off topic threads.

Welcom home Buck! 8)

well...
you all seem to be sooooo dang perky this morning...I, myself, am deeply offended by the lack of sensitivity by Buck. He/she/it, has proven that he she it is a TROLL and has no right being on TT. Posting non-bacpacking threads is a waste of time. GET LOST loser!!!!

oh yeah...welcome to TT. have a nice day...ya;ll come sit a spell and relax...breathe, be at peace...harmony, tranquility, harmony, perfection...TROLL!!!

Buck, I pissed that we can have a good time and go back packing too. One motivation I had to go backpacking for the first time, was getting to know some of the folks on TT on a more personal & funny basis. It breaks the ice and makes it where you almost know the people before you ever meet them. I also get a ton of laughs too. this is by far the best board I go on! So Screw 'em! Let them have their "by the book" mentality.

It's my belief that people can & should talk about everything & anything. Once you start putting limits & constraints on speech, where does it stop? Nobody here is obligated to read or respond to anything. I would rather see debate on any subject matter (or none at all) than attacks on the author, but that is my personal opinion.

Let me sum this up again for Buck:

Put your crap in a bag
Tell your friends your plans
Put bag in car
Drive to a trailhead
Put bag on back
Walk to an approved campsite
Set up crap
Eat
Do any maintenance
Do something entertaining
Sleep
Wake up, pee (in pee bottle if it's cold)
Eat
Pack up crap
Repeat until last day
Walk back to car
Drive home
Call friends and tell them you're not grizzly scat
clean and store your crap
get cleaned up
eat something good

the end

what did I forget?
