This May Become A Trend
Pulled a bagnight last night at my local stomping ground, and this time I brought my Z-Rest to put under my Therma-Rest simply to add to the comfort and BOY HOWDY was it more comfortable than either alone. Twice the comfort one might say.

I suggest everyone try this at least once in their lives!!!

I have a thermarest and I cut my blue thingy so it would be long enough to go under my shoulders and hips....I am a side sleeper & it was wonderful...no hip pain.......wooo hooo...maybe a zrest would be easier to carry tho.....less bulky????

I have an ems mattress that is 2 inches thick and 25 inches wide. I
don't mind hauling the weight. A 20" wide mattress and my arms fall off and the ciculation gets
messed up.
I have a themarest 25" wide camplite that I haven't tried out yet. I do like my zzzz'z

Budder, which therm-a-rest do you have? I have the LE and it's thick as hell, I've never felt the ground or anything on the ground through it. I believe it's 2" thick, if you don't have one, I suggest it. Forget the ultralite and the guidelite...the LE is worth it's weight in gold.

I'm thinking of a DAM (down filled air mat) ...for the weight it gives real comfort and warmth. In combination with a quilt ,might not be that heavy.

That's pretty much the antithesis of this thread...2 pads in warmer months instead of colder ones, and used for comfort instead of warmth.

If it's for comfort you ought to take a look at Big Agnes' REM pads. They're full length, 2 1/2 inches thick and only weigh a few ounces more than a 3/4 length thermarest ultralight. It's like sleeping at home, in bed.

Thermarest Ridge Rest
I just noticed in the Campmor catalog that a new 25"wide ridge rest has been added. Things are looking up for me.

I'm getting one of the Big Agnises for warm trips and may try the thin blue thingy on top in cold. With both it should still be lighter than the full T-Rest.

I was carrying the Thermarest regular long and an ensolite pad. Then for the same weight as the long, I got the Thermarest LE and it rocks, like Dub said. I am going to the 3/4 LE ASAP to save almost a pound of weight off that.

I looked at a big agnes review maybe a couple of years ago. I guess I gotta do some more home
work!

It's all about trade offs. I have hiked with Budder and I know he doesn't bring anything he doesn't use. In fact, he is one of only two people I have ever hiked with that when I see them handle themselves I see that they actually live in the wilderness when they are out rather than just visiting. 8)

I would rather not see Budder handle himself....
