It's STUPENDOUS!
Come one, come all to the next Sacramento-area gathering - this time in honor of our esteemed guest: Ladyhiker03! That's right ladies and gentlemen, we have the technology to raise a glass with our fellow TT'er as she de-stresses from the pressures and demands of a life of Oregonian beachfront property!

The date will be Sunday, October 19 - the place and time to be determined by the people responding to this thread, so don't miss out! Write now, and reserve your place among the northern California TT beer-drinking elite!

Some taxes and fees may apply.

Gee, I almost want to create a seperate trail name for this but I'm stuck with the old handle.

We are talking about hiking and drinking on Sunday, maybe Feather Falls, maybe Carson Pass, maybe whatever with a gathering in the evening.

An alternative would be eating and drinking Saturday night and hiking Sunday.

If anyone would be up for an overnight on Sunday night those who have to work on Monday could do it as a day hike and anyone who could stay overnight on Sunday.

Speak up - let's show LadyHiker what California has to offer.

OK I can do a Monday hike and evening beer fest or a Mon_Tue backpack overnight backpack. I think Sunday is very iffy. I'm off Mon-tue so lets backpack.

Maybe Ishi Wilderness?
I would live to make this, but have some serious job-related issues going on so am reluctant to commit to anything until they're resolved.

However.. if I were going (and I still hope I can) I might suggest somewhere else. I LOVE Feather Falls, but it's a much better hike in sptring / early summer when water flows are high. Right now they're at a very low level, so it's just not as awe-inspiring as other times of the year.

Close to Sac I still like the mountains depending upon weather & what everyone is comfortable with. If that's too cold, Ishi Wilderness is a pretty cool place to visit in the fall.

Hiking, Friends & Beer! !
What more could a person want??
Not necessarily in that order! Imagine... a thread just for me!! (ok.. and for you california beer drinkers that need yet another excuse!) Maybe this thread will get as many posts as the "hygiene" thread, then I'll really feel special! So far, the plan is - Flying in Friday night. Phaedrus and Mermaid and Peppergod having joint custody until Wednesday when they will attempt to send me back to Oregon. Looking forward to visiting with "old" friends (we met in July, remember?) and meeting some new friends! Hey.. what about you So. Californians??

And... TAXES will definitely NOT apply... Watch out for those fees though...

I really want to go for a good hike on Sunday so I don't know how beer will fit in with that. Maybe we could do beer Saturday evening or even head south to meet up with jvz on Monday night. Or maybe he would like to think of a further south day hike on Monday??? I have to work Monday so some of you non-traditional hours people will have to pick up the ball after the weekend.

Love the pepperGod thing.....

How about...
I can think of two possibles. Point Reyes on the ocean just west of Sacramento about an hour and a half. Or Loch Leven Lakes a 7.3 mile round trip in the Sierra Nevada just about 75 miles east of Sacramento off I-80 at Big Bend. I can do a Monday-Tue. backpack if that works with anyone. At Point Reyes I can call today for a group permit at Wildcat a 6.3 one way hike from Bear Valley Ranger Station. I'm pretty sure a permit is not needed at Loch Leven. Also at Pt. Reyes beach campfires are permited using driftwood only but that sounds pretty cool. I can work on permits today if I see any interest in either of these through out the day.

I just called Pt. Reyes and due to a data base crash they aren't taking reservations.But....Monday nights are not a problem getting a campsite in the park they say so it could still be done.
Or..the Sierra. I'll check back here later..I know Mondays are work days for the "regular" people I'm just not that lucky so lets see a show of hands for a Mon-Tue hike.

DA#$@, I can't do a Mon-Tue hike myself, but that sure opens up some possibilities for those of you who can. Pt. Reyes is a great destination, but there's no way we could get weekend reservations this quick.

Think of us poor slobs who are working while you're out having fun.

Yeah, JVZ! Send me your Phone number and I'll give you a call. We're definitely interested in doing a Monday-Tuesday thing, though I have to be back to my house by around 1:00pm-2:00pm on Tuesday, as I have contractors coming out to do some work for me... Anyway, give me the number, and we'll figure it out.

Post if you'll be in Point Reyes. It's close for us. I'm sure I couldn't drag Landscaper away from his work, but if I got sick and couldn't work on Tuesday, I might recover with the fresh, ocean air?

I've been trying to avoid reading this thread since I know I prolly can't make it and I didn't want to know how much fun y'all were going to have without me. They have our entire hardwood floor in 3 rooms & foyer ripped up to install a new one on Monday, so by orders of Mrs. Wanderer I AM NOT, REPEAT, AM NOT going to be able to go hiking this weekend, must paint the living room and kitchen instead before new flooring is laid.

GRRRRRR.

I know I won't be able to drag Landscaper away from his landscaping obligations.
And I finally remembered that nagging thought about work on Tuesday. I have responsibility for a student that day and Tuesday's are her only days to do her Health Department rotation. I couldn't hang her up.

But look at my post on the Nor Cal day hike thread. Maybe we'll just be irresponsible this weekend and hike instead of do chores.

Wanderer, isn't it really bad for the subfloors to walk on them the day before new floors are laid? Shouldn't you and Mrs. Wanderer make a point to be out of the house on Sunday? At least, that's what I have always heard. Besides, think of the liability if the floor installers are overcome by those paint fumes.

LadyHiker and I were up till 1:30 last night drinking 2 Buck Chuck and talking. Needless to say, it hasn't been an early morning for us. Wannabp and Landscaper might are welcome to stay here but they might be better off staying in Sacto so they don't have to get moving quite so early - was that an offer you were making, Phaed, or were you going to suggest some nearby freeway bridge?

See y'all tonight!!

Phaedrus, we can sleep in our car, it makes out into a bed. Sacto does seem easier, less driving.

Is there a bridge near where you live? Or a driveway with bathroom privileges?
