our
new pet

Cameron picked it up during the TC3 hike. Yes, it's our new pet, but he is bugging the heII out of me about it. We can't find what kind a caterpillar it is. I really would like to know if it's poisious, specially because Cameron got "burned" in the eye by one of his new pets he picked up on his way to camp....

What color were the stripes on its sides? I can't remember.

Match called it a Hickory Horned Devil . The description sure fits, although I suspected at the time Match was full of #&%!$. LOL.

I couldn't tell if he was serious, but it appears he was.

He was a savage looking beastie. Do you know what it eats? I'd love to see the airplane it turns in to.

This will give you some scale.

It appears the adult moth has a 4 to 6 inch wingspan.

My guess is that it eats small children while they sleep.

Do you keep that monster in a closed-up container, gem?

Ha, I think that's it. Sure looks like it. As long as it's not poisionous I am okay with it I guess. If it survives I'll send pics

Between that and the big ass spider in that little peanut butter jar, the rest of the critters didn't have a chance. Speaking of wildlife, Curry and I saw a crippled chipmunk on the way out. His back legs were broken. It was pretty pitiful.

I told Curry that he could carry it out in his pocket, but he said he liked his balls just like they were, thank you very much.
