Do you want me to send you the actual FG & SG maps?

Send me your home address to walkindude32@comcast.net

This is gonna be one cool hike (no pun intended)!

Friday to Sunday. I don't get Monday off and have better luck taking Fridays off. Some of the folks with Monday off and a good drive to get there are talking about doing SG on Fri-Sun and FG on Sun and Monday. You have mail.

I don't get MLK day off either, so I'm indifferent to which days it is.

Does the ranger station accept reservations?

I would seriously doubt it. But like walkindude said, in January it probably won't be an issue.

OK, I haven't read the entire thread.

Where is this place?

Tennessee?

What, about 500 miles from Baltimore?

I'm planning on being there Thursday night. Not sure if I want to camp at Stone Door or Savage Station though. Can you camp at the ranger stations if you come in after dark?

I guess Savage would be best, since we're meeting there the next morning to do the shuttle.

Stikky, I think it's about an hour and a half, but Nashvegans will know better than me.

What town is near this place?
Tom Terrific

It's not too far from Monteagle, TN, but Greutli-Laager is the closest "town". Not sure if Mapquest will find that wide spot in the road or not.

We can take my van, Oh Pusher of Blood. Reservations have never been an issue, at least I've never bothered to make any. There is a campgroud a couple hundred yards from the parking lot at Savage Station. The only thing to check will be whether part of the Collins Gulf Trail will be iced over, in which case it will be closed and we will have to make a last-minute adjustment to our hike. The Ranger will let us know when we file our 'flight plan'.

Tom, all of that is interstate too. 680/75 = 9 hrs. Keep in mind that stikmon is going to head over the Fierry Gizzard when the main group finishes with Savage Gulf. They are close together. If you have Monday off then yall could hang and then leave by noon or so on Monday. Come on over!

Shucks, let's just fly Phaedrus and Tilt in as well. We could make a TT documentary.

Hey guys. I'm gonna put these dates down and try to plan on joining yall for this one, if you don't mind someone new.

By the way, some of you may know who I am under the name "hikinmike" (No, not the one from CA). I just changed to avoid confusion. Ironic huh.

My father had his knee scoped 2 years ago and has felt fine ever since. He was actually walking without crutches 1 week after the procedure.

We will see.
