I camped Friday and Saturday nights at Paradox Lake state campground – about 4-5 miles off the Northway. On Saturday morning, I got off to a 5AM trailhead start at St Huberts on Rte 73. From there I hiked first to Lower Ausable Lake, then to Indian Head, then Fish Hawk Cliffs; and finally on to the tandem summits on Mt Colvin and Blake Mtn. Colvin and Blake were #40 and #41 respectively as I work toward my ADK46er goal. The hike took 14 hours at a moderate pace, slowed down along the steeper climbs, and included generous stops at all of the aforementioned highlights to snack, eat and/or enjoy the views. Trail conditions were excellent, the weather was incredibly beautiful, Fall colors were at their peak, and there were no bugs. It just doesn’t it get any better than that! I think the pictures might tell the rest of the story much better than I could with words, so here’s the link...

Colvin & Blake Pix

While driving back home on Sunday, I took a scenic route through parts of the western High Peaks region and the southern Adirondacks. Here’s a link to those pix...

M Silver,

I look at your pictures whenever you post them and I have to say the pictures from this trip are some of your best!!!

I have always wanted to hike near the Ausable Lakes and the Fall Foliage looks awesome!

In other words...nice photos.

The pictures look great and the foliage excellent. The fox picture is a good Halloween shot with its glowing eyes.

Great pics mighty_M!

Awesome fall foliage! Nice job with the panorama, where else can you not only get that view of the Great Range, but that multitude of High Peaks as well.

Skeery Fox, it gave me shivers!

5 to go, then you get to do them all over again!

Yes! And Colvin and Blake are just about the most road-accessable High Peaks in the Adirondacks!
