What if your CD player accidently breaks?

You'd better pray that doesn't happen because I'll be forced to SING.

btw Twiggy - if I can pry it from Artex's fingers, I'll give you the 4 Non Blondes CD.

Oh joy! Pennsy, you are just toooooo good to me!

Artex, you sure you're feelings won't be hurt?

Should sound good in my new buggy. Yes Mr Pennsylvania Hiker, you'll be pleased to hear that the bungee/screwdriver door closer thingy has worn me down, and I'm giving the "wreck" away. I'll be joining you in debt, as soon as I figure out what I'm gonna buy...

It's gonna be a looooooong drive to Baxter.

Twiggy - No way!! You're caving and giving up the wreck? I don't believe it. TROLL!!!!!

btw - my condolences to the unlucky recipient.

Twigeater, I'm in the market for a new buggy myself, only thing I can't get from them is decent trade for my old buggy.... at least not yet anyways.

Hey, is your new buggy gonna have one of those red lights on the back that tell me the road is gonna get wicked bumpy, or that we have arrived???? Smirkkkkk.....

I won't get anything worthwhile in trade, so I'm giving the "wreck" (which just so happens to run perfectly fine) to my grandkid's mom and she is THRILLED! So there Pennsy!

haha monkeyboy! what're you gonna get for new?

Hey There... all this talk of frost bite and wind chill has got me excited... Any room on this trip for a fellow New Englander?

Twiggie, is your new buggy the same model as the old one?

My next vehicle will definitely be 4x4. :-)

flyfish, where are you from? check out the info on the trip page to sign up.

Artex I haven't picked yet, but I'm looking at mid-size SUVs, a step up from what I have now. So far the front runner is the Suzuki XL-7. The Suzuki I have now has been great so I may stick with 'em.

One damn thing though, I am making sure this one has a cup holder!

Cupholders are essential. Crotches clearly weren't designed to hold paper cups filled with hot coffee.

YEAH BUT IT DOES KEEP THE SPECIAL PLACES WARM!
LtHiker

when you're driving a 5 speed, the crotch is useless (not to mention a hazard) as a cup holder...

Yeah, well now I'm stuck on the Nissan Xterra - if I could only get the one I want with manual transmission AND 16-17" wheels.
twigeater
3:29:52 PM
2/20/04

Well, I just got a reality check from the dealer. What I want is essentially the same thing I have, only newer and less miles. That truck, I found one, is wicked expensive. I've got feelers out, but I'm guessing I'll have to keep it. Good thing I like it as it is set up. I'll probably run it into the ground now. In a couple months, it's due for some maintainance (SP). Oh well....

What has this got to do with BSP anyways.....
monkeyboy
4:39:02 PM
2/20/04

too bad monkeyboy - what year is your truck and how many miles?

I do believe I have found my buggy in the Xterra, with trim I like, price I can afford. We'll see what happens when tomorrow comes and I start visiting the dealerships.

Found your buggy, eh?

Mine is currently a 2000 Ford Ranger 4X4 extended cab with 92,000 on it, in great shape, but often dirty. I was looking for a 2002 with 30,000 on it with all the same features.

I might as well not even trade mine in for what they want to give me for it. I have a few other dealers out there looking, but the first one was so far off..... I guess I am resigned to keep this one for another year or so for now...

How about a link to what you are getting?

Twiggie just to compare check out the Jeep Liberty. A friend of mine has one and really likes it. seems like a tough little truck

2004 Nissan Xterra, 5 speed, 4WD, V-6, world championship package.

Cool you going to use the matching Backpack?
LtHiker
9:51:14 AM
2/22/04

LOL...I have to call tommorrow cause it disappeared between the time I looked at the truck, and drove off with it. I don't care so much about the backpack, but there were also some other odds and ends in the back. I'm sure they took they out to vaccuum it, and just didn't put them back. For the price, I want every little thing they promised, LOL.

I haven't had much chance to explore the inside of it yet, but I will once I shovel a foot of snow off it. The power windows had me baffled for a bit, but I figured it out before I froze. :)

Woohoo! That looks awesome Twigstah. Now I won't be the only one whining about what BSP dust does to a black car.

ask MarkO about figuring out power windows. I think he dang near froze in his car on T-giving weekend.

LOL, I won't whine - I live on a dirt road - this truck won't be black for long!

I had to laugh when I went to the bike shop after - the bike guys asked what I was doing driving it in this weather (it was snowing/raining and very slippery) I laughed.
(like, didn't I buy it to drive??)
twigeater

Now....this will be veryyy interesting keeping up w/the Twigster on those back roads :) I think we'll be the ones with the dusty lookin truck..... Just watch for the vechicle trails and maybe some red lights up ahead.

What!!! No automatic transmission? You got just about every other option they have!
monkeyboy

Yeah Pennsy!
>:^P

I was foiled by the power window child lock-out.

twigeater, way to go holding out for the five-speed.
I can dig a woman who ain't afraid to work the stick!

MarkO
3:10:20 PM
2/22/04

I didn't want an automatic monkeyboy. (didn't I post that I was looking for a manual tranny? change that date range! :)

I also didn't want the power package, but couldn't get the utility package (which gave me the 16" wheels) without the world whatever package. Basically, I got all that fancy stuff for a price that consumerguide.com, bluebook.com, edmunds.com and carpoint.com said was a good price for a basic xterra.

PLUS THIS ONE HAS FOUR (4) count 'em, 1-2-3-4! CUPHOLDERS!!!!
I just could not pass that up. ;)
twigeater
3:23:57 PM
2/22/04

FOUR cupholders? But doesn't Bud Light come in SIX packs?

I think Drive Maine will be changed to ZOOM ZOOM Maine

2/22/04

no kidding Mark-O, once you go stick there ain't NO going back! ;)

LMAO, that's why I didn't want the whole power thing! I got in the back of my sister's car once, and I could not open the door OR the window! I like to have a little control over my car instead of vice versa. However, I'm learning that you don't have to used all that stuff. I said I wanted crank windows and the salesguy said "you want them? We are so lazy.
twigeater
3:31:05 PM
2/22/04

Four cupholders!!! My current truck has 4 also. The one I was looking at only had 3. The secrets out. Now You know why I passed on that one.

I seemed to remember you posting you wanted a standard, just giving you a ribbing.

I had the same issue when I bought this truck. By the time I got all I wanted, I was basically describing the upgraded truck I ended up with.

Glad you got the vehicle you wanted for more than a fair price!!

zoom zoom!
yeah this V-6 definately has more power than my old 4 cylinder.

And I already had it in 4WD, we got about a foot of snow the last coupla days. yippee!

cupholders are very important features!

I know monkeyboy, I've always bought the bare car before. My last car I splurged and got a radio with it. This is the first time I've had air conditioning.
twigeater
3:39:41 PM
2/22/04

Waitaminnit, those power windows aren't airconditioning.....
monkeyboy
4:01:02 PM
2/22/04

Alright twigeater, no "sissy-shifter" for my gal!

The five-speed gets better mileage and better speed control going down or up hill.

I hate when the dang auto-trans can't decide which gear to stay in on long hills.

That V-6 ought to go like a moose with its ass afire!
MarkO
4:08:09 PM
2/22/04

Good choice Twigeater, I've had a couple Nissans. Good cars, low maintainance.
pepsi
4:41:21 PM
2/22/04

right on Mark-O! LOL...

my only complaint is that there aren't more gears - I used to keep trying to shift my old car into 6th!

monkeyboy, this car has more gadgets than I've ever had on a buggy before - compass and outside temperature show on the rear view mirror, and other fun stuff. Now if I can just get my hands on that backpack...LOL!

LOL at MarkO....I'd like to see that moose.....that would be pretty funny! Twigeater, don't listen to MB, he's just tryin ta see ya goin....you know how he is, quite the trouble-maker....so I sent him off to scrub the floor....

Modern cars really are nice.

Even in northern New England a/c is good to have.

I hate driving at highway speed with the windows open with the wind roaring........"what's that ya say?.....yell a little LOUDER!"
MarkO
5:05:04 PM
2/22/04

yes I do. You make him scrub them floors TWICE skeetah! LOL...
twigeater
5:25:37 PM
2/22/04

With a toothbrush.
Artex
5:42:32 PM
2/22/04

good idea Artex - HIS toothbrush!
LOL!

Lt, I didn't look at the Jeep Liberty for two reasons, one is it's a compact SUV (like I already had) and the other, unless Jeep is Japanese, I ain't buying...
another thing that attracted me to the Xterra is that it has a truck frame rather than a car frame. It feels like a truck, and I love a truck!

twogeater gets a new X-Terra, skiracer builds his sled. Took it out for a test haul this afternoon. Plunked a 50# bag of birdseed on it and away I went. I have a few minor modifications to make, including something to keep the snow off my gear. I must have had an extra 20# of snow in the sled when I got through.
