Sheesh, what's next, indoor plumbing?” 2:04:57 PM 3/04/04 “who asked you! hey, I posted your hair pic, but nobody cared, LOL... Just for record, we did not have indoor plumbing as kids.” 2:07:37 PM 3/04/04 “that would be "just for the record"” 2:09:20 PM 3/04/04 “bitpusher, just wait for what?... - me to get old and gossip at the Post Office - the rates to go way up for the Post Office Box - wait for the clothing rules - wait for the rules to change once I finally figure out the old rules.” 2:15:21 PM 3/04/04 “For the new clothing rules...” 2:15:47 PM 3/04/04 “Maybe if I don't wear any clothing they can't bust me on the "wrong" cothing.” 2:17:57 PM 3/04/04 “I bet you if you read the fine print you'll find your wife can't sunbathe in the front yard, lol...” 2:18:57 PM 3/04/04 “We're not allowed washing machines on the porch or any old vehicles sitting on blocks, either.” 2:22:04 PM 3/04/04 “Damn, man, then what's the point of living someplace where the directions include the phrase "Then turn off the paved road..."” 2:22:52 PM 3/04/04 “Last May my house was one of a few that got broken into...the police questioned my next door neighbor who claimed she didn't see anything. He didn't quite believe her... I figured since they couldn't see anyway, I could run around naked outside...I'm waiting for her to complain so I can call her on the lie... :)” 2:29:13 PM 3/04/04 “Hey, I just realized.... I'm traveling farther for this trip than anyone else. Isn't there a rule somewhere that says that means everyone has to bring me a present?” 3:28:10 PM 3/04/04 “Oh geez, is that what "THE THING" is? A present bonanza?” 3:30:29 PM 3/04/04 “No.... but when "the thing" does happen, that will require more presents.” 3:33:35 PM 3/04/04 “I'll bring you the present of chili!!!” 4:03:45 PM 3/04/04 “I'll gift wrap the 4 Non Blondes CD. I'll even toss in Yanni because you've been such a good boy this year.” 4:07:40 PM 3/04/04 “Toss in a John Tesh CD while you're at it...” 4:08:07 PM 3/04/04 “No Way!! Believe it or not, there was a time when Tesh was tolerable. Several years ago when the Tour de France was on ABC, he composed the background music that was played during the telecasts. It was really cool stuff and I bought the Tour soundtrack.” 4:16:06 PM 3/04/04 “OK, Michael Bolton then...” 4:18:17 PM 3/04/04 “No Way! Believe it or not, there was a time when..... Now THAT is music to spew by. Thanks for ruining my dinner appetite.” 4:42:54 PM 3/04/04 “Yer welcome. Oh, and Kenny G.” 4:44:13 PM 3/04/04 “Those aren't presents. That's punishment.” 5:00:35 PM 3/04/04 “picky picky.” 5:12:48 PM 3/04/04 “Hey monkeyboy, thanks! Me love chili. Actually, the opportunity to hike with you fine folks in Baxter, one of my favorite places on earth, is more than enough present for me. insert crowd going "awwwwwwwwww" sound effect here” 6:10:48 PM 3/04/04 “I can't tell. Is that an e in front of all those w's? ;o)” 6:13:21 PM 3/04/04 “LOL!” 6:15:00 PM 3/04/04 “HEY, the Day the Earth Stood Still is on AMC right now.” 6:16:19 PM 3/04/04 “When they say the snow chant, turn it up really loud to appease the gods.” 6:17:27 PM 3/04/04 “Klaatu barada nikto That just has to be more powerful than oonga boonga.” 6:21:51 PM 3/04/04 “I concur. KLAATU BARADA NIKTO!!!!!”6:28:29 PM 3/04/04 “you people are soooo weird.... ;)” 6:42:10 PM 3/04/04 “For crying out loud, we're doing this for Maine! Oooooh, she's doing the chant now. Turn it up!!” 6:50:18 PM 3/04/04 “I'd be happy with a chant to dry up my yard so you guys can park your cars. I should take a picture of it tomorrow...” 6:59:31 PM 3/04/04 “I just talked with Baxter Park and it's SNOWing up there! o(=D” 2:21:34 PM 3/05/04 “I knew the chant would work. GORT RULES!!! If he can bring Klaatu back from the dead, making it snow is a piece of cake.” 2:27:59 PM 3/05/04 “Yippee! I've been bumming this week because we've lost so much snow here. NE snow coverage map klaatu barada nikto!!! *and* Oonga Boonga...snow, snow, snow!!!” 2:28:27 PM 3/05/04 “now we need a chant to make sure they get our reservation tomorrow...for some reason they don't have it today...” 2:31:29 PM 3/05/04 “Baxteria....getum our reservationio!” 2:34:04 PM 3/05/04 “Hail, the almighty weather chants!!! They've yet to fail me. :-)” 3:51:31 PM 3/05/04 “I finished the sled yesterday, but I think I might cut back the length on the traces a bit. The traces are almost a foot longer than"The Beast" orange sled. I took some pictures and will post them today if I get a chance, otherwise it will be tonight.” 8:03:43 AM 3/08/04 “Skiracer, get those pics up when you have a chance. I still need to build my sled. Maybe we should put wheels on them?” 9:17:36 AM 3/08/04 “I just got a report from someone who went to Maine on vacation last week. I'm not exactly sure where he went except up by Big Squaw Mt. which is SW of Baxter. He said it was pretty much mud season and they lost a lot of snow. Twigeater can give us a better idea once we get a bit closer to the date, but wheels are looking like it might be the only option to use my sled this season. I'll post pics as soon as I can. This afternoon would be the earliest.” 9:39:48 AM 3/08/04 “Hmmm the inability to use the sleds might really put a crimp in our partying!” 10:11:21 AM 3/08/04 “Big Squaw? Your friend must've been skiing then, cause public places in Maine can no longer have the word squaw in the name, and most have been replaced with moose. The Public Land there is now called Little Moose and the mountains are now Little Moose and Big Moose. Anyway, it snowed 4 inches in Millinocket. People generally feel this is a false spring. Let's hope! o(=D” 11:34:32 AM 3/08/04 “Yes, he was skiing at Big Squaw, twigeater. The little snow we got this morning has come and gone. It's melted from the ground, but there is still some left on the trees. Let's hope those in the know in Maine are right about a flase spring.” 11:44:25 AM 3/08/04 “I don't know if they are so much "in the know" as thinking it's too good to be true that it's spring already. :) If it stays spring, this'll be the first time in a long time! (dammit!) It snowed some here as well, but didn't stick around. I still have snow in my yard though!” 11:57:51 AM 3/08/04 2:14:16 PM 3/08/04 “Cool sled Ski! How did you bend the conduit?” 2:35:57 PM 3/08/04 “Thanks, LtHiker. Well... there is this handy tool called a pipe bender. I asked the Home Depot guy if they had one I could use. He said no, but they had ones I could buy. At about $29 for the pipe bender and only 2 bends to make, I figured $14.50/bend was a little steep. I thanked him, picked out the pipe bender and put it in my cart. A few minutes after he left, I used the pipe bender, made two 90 degree bends and put the pipe bender back on the rack, none the worse for wear.” 2:40:58 PM 3/08/04 “Okay now!!! Let's get politically correct here. You can't go calling the mountain Big Squaw, as it could, might possibly, offend some one's ethnicity, just a little bit. Now none of us would want to insult any one based on their ethnicity would we?? While this mountain resort is a privately owned venture, it's name is not changed by the lawmakers recently as were all state names. So we need to propose a new name to this mountain resort. One that would not offend anyone based on their ethnicity. So, in keeping with the political correctness that seems to be running amok of late, I propose that we start a letter writing campaign to the owners of Big Squaw Ski Resort and demand that they change thier name to Enormous Native American Woman Ski resort. That name should not offend anyone's ethnicity. What say you? Shal we start a letter writing campaign to this resort?” 2:44:51 PM 3/08/04 “You first, monkeyboy. How about Large Native American Woman Mountain? ...perhaps....oh, nevermind.” 2:51:40 PM 3/08/04 Jump to Page << prev
