“I just got a report from someone who went to Maine on vacation last week. I'm not exactly sure where he went except up by Big Squaw Mt. which is SW of Baxter. He said it was pretty much mud season and they lost a lot of snow. Twigeater can give us a better idea once we get a bit closer to the date, but wheels are looking like it might be the only option to use my sled this season. I'll post pics as soon as I can. This afternoon would be the earliest.”

The Public Land there is now called Little Moose and the mountains are now Little Moose and Big Moose.

Anyway, it snowed 4 inches in Millinocket. People generally feel this is a false spring. Let's hope!

The little snow we got this morning has come and gone. It's melted from the ground, but there is still some left on the trees. Let's hope those in the know in Maine are right about a flase spring.”

“Thanks, LtHiker. Well... there is this handy tool called a pipe bender. I asked the Home Depot guy if they had one I could use. He said no, but they had ones I could buy. At about $29 for the pipe bender and only 2 bends to make, I figured $14.50/bend was a little steep. I thanked him, picked out the pipe bender and put it in my cart. A few minutes after he left, I used the pipe bender, made two 90 degree bends and put the pipe bender back on the rack, none the worse for wear.”

You can't go calling the mountain Big Squaw, as it could, might possibly, offend some one's ethnicity, just a little bit. Now none of us would want to insult any one based on their ethnicity would we??

While this mountain resort is a privately owned venture, it's name is not changed by the lawmakers recently as were all state names. So we need to propose a new name to this mountain resort. One that would not offend anyone based on their ethnicity.

So, in keeping with the political correctness that seems to be running amok of late, I propose that we start a letter writing campaign to the owners of Big Squaw Ski Resort and demand that they change thier name to Enormous Native American Woman Ski resort. That name should not offend anyone's ethnicity.
