Speaking of spirits, all this booze weighs a ton.

Lt - I'm picking Artex up in Portland tomorrow afternoon. It will probably be easier if I just drove there myself. Since I'm not picking him til 6pm, I might have time to stop in and say hello to family in Mass. Thanks anyway!

No Problem Pennsy. Just thought I would offer since I am bringing the truck.

I am trying to pack and for some reason I am really stressing out about it.

How about you stay and go to jury duty for me and I stress out over packing to HIKE MAINE

Since Artex is going I get to say
"you bastards!"

As much fun as jury duty is I will have to say NO!
I usually get to pack at least 2-3 days before a trip. that gives me time to remember anything I might have forgotten. Also it seems that i am bringing a #&%!$ load of stuff with me. Thank god I built a sled.

Pepsi just l;et them know about your extremist point of view and I am sure the will let you out of Jury duty.

do ya have a list? :)

Every trip I look at my sled I say it's not big enough for all I want to bring. But if it were bigger, I'd bring more stuff, so it keeps the crap down. That said, I'm dragging this sled even if it's over rocks. I don't think I could carry it all even if I wanted to. haha!

Skiracer, I'm a bringing my skiis. I prefer them, easier riding, more endurance on my part, on the level and downhill. Uphill is a little different. I also like touring on them.

For poles, I used my lekis last year with snow baskets. They worked fine for skiing, snow shoes and hiking. I've seen folks use them downhill skiing. Those are some pretty pricey poles to fall on, when you can get a decent pair of ski poles for about $20.00.

Yes I have a list but it just seems like alot of stuf. It is not really. If I took out the extras it would all fit in my pack. Just normal pre trip stressing. It all does fit on my sled and I could probably carry it all if I absolutely had to.

The big thing is 2 sleeping bags. Since we have to carry the 0 degree.
LtHiker

3/23/04

oh yeah.... I forgot about bringing the 40 degree bag. Dang, I'm glad this stuff ain't going on my back.

I've never kept a list but Twiggy sent me her spreadsheet list to use as a template. It looks pretty efficient, but I'm thinking about leaving the sports bras home.

given the forecasted temps and all, if you really don't want to bring zero bags I'm sure no one will check. I might bring my 20 degree and a fleece blanket.

I gotta pack! :)

Awww dang, I'm all packed and I still forgot to pack the 40 degree bag even though I just posted about it. What a dork!

Nah... I'm feeling free. No bra this week for me.

btw - do they make a 8' x 10' compression sack so I can get all this stuff in my car? I might have to strap Artex to the roof.

I just checked on snow conditions...

BSP says the road is still skiable with patches that are down to the road. They got another inch of snow last night. Still 46" of snow at Chimney Pond. (?)

Shin Pond says snowmobile trails are still travelable. "As long as we don't get real warm weather."

Weather is calling for an inch of snow Thursday, then rain Thursday night. and rain, rain, rain...

SO...if the conditions absolutely SUCK...I checked with BSP and we can hole up at Trout Brook if we want to. There's enough day hiking from there to keep us happy.

Weather schmether, who cares. We'll be in Maine! Just to be safe, we'd better double the beverage order if we might be holed up in TBF.

I'm outta here. I'm taking my time and makeing a stop in my hometown of Lowell, Mass.

See ya'all tonight!

SLUSH HIKE MAINE!!

In case the conditions really suck......muddy.....keep your boots tied good and tight.

Allow for enough booze in the event that you're cabin-bound.

And watch out for that twigeater chick, she's awfully silly.

Oh yeah skeetah - we'll put the radio on top of the spare tire of my truck - it's underneath.

Friday on your way in, stop and check the Trout Brook bunkhouse, see if we're still there. It's the first building on the right, the summer ranger station. It's the door on the right as you walk on the porch.
