“I have Fischer BCX Outbound Crown for my backcountry skis. I just have regular NNN bindings mounted on them, but am thinking about getting backcountry NNN bindings and BC boots. My standard cross country boots are pretty stiff. I also have a pair of waxable Fischer Europas (3 pin) and a pair of waxless Fischer Radials (NNN)for my touring skis. I use these mostly for skiing in track. I do not have an extra pair of boots, but if anyone wants me to bring my touring Fischers to try out, let me know.”

“Phew! I just read through all of the sled building threads. The goo dnews is I've got some great ideas thanks to all who have already built and tried them out. I'm headed to get a sled right after work and then I can start designing and planning a trip to the hardware store. Wooohooo - snowshoes, backcountry skis, pak boots....I can have it all!”

I ended up getting the Big Foot "Beast" for a sled. It's orange, but who cares what color it is, right? I'm going to have to plan a trip to Home Depot for some hardware for the traces. I think I'm going to try and set it up similar to Pennsy's design.”

“Yeah I won't be doing it again, I felt really bad. I only made myself eat it cause I killed it in a worse way than usual.

“get this - I called BSP to see if the Nesowadnehunk bunkhouse was available for the long weekend. It is, but I can't reserve it because it's not 10 days prior to the trip.

“One change I hope to make to my sled before the trip is to make the traces detachable. They were PITA last trip when we tried to go sledding.”

Now why would anyone want to take the traces off their sleds when they have a perfectly good set of skiis with them. <:p”

“because after we went for a walk, snowshoed the mtn, went night skiing, and made snow angels we went night sledding.

“Oh I love night skiing. As opposed to sledding, you ned to duck more when you are standing up skiing. Pretty exciting. I'm a bit of a daydreamer, take after my son, and I feel like James Bond on that mountain woods ski chase scene. But you won't see me skiing off a roof and across a table.”

“Hey, LT, this is SB....when you going to be at Sunday River? MB and I are heading up there tomorrow for the day. Maybe we can meet up?”

“SB I am going up on Sunday and staying until wensday.”

“SB and I had an awesome day skiing Saturday. We skiied it like we wanted to and we didn't quite make it to the end of the day. Our quads were killing us. We hit every trail we liked and were able to hit em hard! Snowed til about 2 or so. Awesome day!!!

“Hey, I thought that was you over on VFTT MarkO, and I almost sent "you" a message. Good thing I checked the profile first!

“I picked up everything I need to modify my sled, now I just have to build it. I ended up getting electrical conduit for the traces. The only potential weakpoint is going to be where each trace joins together in the center. The connectors for electrical conduit only use two screws to apply pressure to the ouside of the conduit. If I could have found 14' sections of conduit, I would have been able to make one section. If I made one section, I would not have been able to take the traces off the sled for fun and transportation.”

“Skiracer, I made my sled using one 10' conduit. I think it is some 14" in the middle and the remainder is trailing back from both sides of me. I was completely able to enjoy skiing with the skiis hitting the sled. I attached the traces to a piece of plywood bolted to the front. Just a suggestion.....
