wait till we explore the unknown...
reaches of this canyon...there are few who take this road. It is fraught with danger, and death lingers. It was made for the Dead, and the Dead keep it, the way is closed.

But, we shall see what we shall see. The Staff of Stikmon shall gain us entry, it shall ideed.

travelling.
I was only in Vegas once... to gamble. I'd love to hike in other places other than the New England area but it's hard with working full time and going to college part time. Plus travelling with having a pet is hard. I don't like to leave my dog in the kennel and my family is too busy to take care of him.

travel, travel...
thats what we does precious....all over, everywhere, we goes, we does...big bend yesterday, red rocks tomorrow, then the Valley of Death the days after...we goessss...we goes to where the precious says to go...it is always calling, it is...always seeking its way back...it is a heavy burden, but goes we must.

2 weeks from today...
We'll be miles deep in a premiere slot canyon in the valley of the Dead...

Only the dead can pass, the way is closed...The dead made it and the dead keep it, the way is closed.

The Loop of Stratus knows the way for I behold Wayfinder and the Dead will heed our entry and we shall see what passes through these canyon walls. We'll see many things and happenings that few can live to tell...mostly heard previously through rumours and tales spoken from foreign tongues of the West.

But be forewarned...do not take what the Dead keep for their treasure.

What a great weekend!
Calhiker and I met up with Stikmon and Stratusloop on Friday, and backpacked Fall Canyon. Views were awesome! We hiked out Sunday and hung out at the Stovepipe Wells Saloon for a few hours. When we left, Stikmon and Stratusloop were planning to hike/spend the night at the Panamint Sand Dunes.

Stikmon will post a trip report later. I'm working on photos, but webshots isn't cooperating with me (doesn't want to upload). I'll try again tonight.

Great pictures so far. Fall Canyon is a great hike. So, you did Mt Palmer as a day hike? Bet you all had lots of fun. How great is Death Valley?

what we did...
isn't what we set out to do. To be honest, SL and I overestimated ourselves and underestimated Fall Canyon. The adjetive that applies to this hike is RELENTLESS. It NEVER stops going uphill. NEVER!!!

I'm not gonna throw out any spoilers to the trek, other than this was an awsome trip. Never did the Dunes...another time. Trip report and photos to come later on in the week. I'm suffering from sleep deprivation and am in dire need of hugging my pillow...

We all survived and had a grand time in one of Gods Holiest of Holy places...more later...

Oh yeah, I did that too when I did Fall Canyon and felt like I might die by the time I got up there pretty far. Loose gravel does your calves about like loose sand does, especially uphill. Good thing I had the excuse to stop and key out some plants :) Look forward to hearing about the rest of your trip.
