sweeter words were never uttered:
"I choose to voluntarily terminate employment pursuant to the Verizon Severance Program for Management Employees Plan"

"My last day on the active payroll will be November 21, 2003."

i just filled out the paperwork today. looking forward to turning it in.

the more i think about it, the more i cant believe i actually had to think about it. nigga, please! i was planning on leaving to tackle the AT when i got my five years in anyway, even better to quit now when theyre offering an extra 15k AND 52 weeks full insurance benefits on top of severance pay.

Before you go in and give your supervisor the news tomorrow just make sure there are no strings attached to your severence.

- They might supply you insurance at their discounted group rate, just as long as YOU pay the bill.

-Is the $15K for your term of employment, or is that the max for a 'lifer' (20+ years) and you'll only get a lesser amount based on years of service?

-If you've made some good $$$ this year and are thinking of taking a whole year off you might want to quit AFTER Jan 1 - that way you'll only have the meager severence income for next year's tax calculations and not bloat your income tax liabiltiy for this year. (hey, the money you save on taxes can buy more gear!).

I wish that I could do that. I have the tons of respect for what you are doing. A lot of people don't have the balls to do that. I hope that hike goes well for you. Good luck

2scoops, go for it while you're young and unencumbered. Better now than having to sit around waiting for the 25 year mark so you can finally do what you want for a living.

FARGO, North Dakota (AP) -- A man who said he was fed up with his cellular phone service went to a Fargo mall and started hurling phones across a store, striking an employee and causing more than $2,000 in damage, authorities said.

Jason Perala, 22, of Fargo, told The Forum newspaper that he planned only to yell at employees at Verizon Wireless.

"Then I just lost it," he said. "I just started grabbing computers and phones and throwing them. I just destroyed the place. ... I kind of regret that I did it, but I hope my message got across."

Police said Perala took off his shirt and put on safety glasses before throwing around computers, phones and other items.

One employee was struck in the shoulder by a phone before he and other workers dashed into an office, locked the door and called police, Sgt. Kevin Volrath said. Other businesses in the West Acres mall lowered their steel security gates during Thursday's incident.

Perala was arrested without incident and jailed on charges of felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor simple assault.

LOL--Home Sweet Home
Not too surprising. I used to live there, went to West Acres many times as a teen girl. The winter is only just now coming to an end there. That was a prime example of spring fever.
