Yep I am sticking with my original opinion when I saw the photo....DAMN! Just DAMN....

LOL...my daughter explained she is going as a Sorceress ..to which my son shot back.."Thats a Witch...you will be perfect you wont even have to put on a costume."

Mommy got ticked at that reply and Dad had to leave the room. I grabbed my son made the stern "WE NEED TO TALK" comment and we went outside and laughed for twenty minutes.

LOL...one night I came home and there was a broom in the front yard (apparently the daughter was breaking up a doggie argument). My son and I get out of the truck, he looks at me and I said, "either we have had a problem or MeMe (mother in law) is visiting."

Honey dog's got that "The crap I put up with!" expression.

Laurel the green dragon didn't get very far, but still had a good haul tonight. I was surprised how many people gave out bags of chips or cookies this year too. She was so happy to get a little bag of cool ranch doritos: "Yay! I got stinky chips!" She had people rolling with that one. Her feet were getting too hot, and the last house we visited had their burglar alarm go off when we rang the doorbell. Nice.

So we adjourned back to my mom's house for Panera's coffee cake and tea. I got to see the beginning of a new NCIS episode; that was pretty damned funny.

Honey Dog went as the Easter bunny? How adorable! Scorch, props to you, girlfriend!

I wasn't very original, but I did dress up as a red-haired witch. Next year I'm going as a one night stand.

Like we freaking care.....(LOL)...post em again (LOL).

I did the hand out candy routine. I did buy this little remote control spider that would drop down from the porch roof when I clapped. SCARED the Snot out of one or two kids...the parents thought it was hilarious.

i love watching people jump, although i hate when people do it to me, lol.

we got all of about 10 trick or treaters. halloween sucks in the burbs. i miss living in the philly! i remember we'd use pillow cases as bags and wind up having to stop back home to empty them and go back out. we'd wind up with 3 pillow cases full before our parents would have to tell us that was enough and we'd have to stop going back out for more. it was insane! now THAT was halloween!!!

My kids were Luke Skywalk and Princess Leia. Yesterday, someone suggested that my wife and I should have gone as Vadar and Padma'. Dang, I wish I'd have thought of that. It would have been pretty neat.

lol....Each year I try to find some other way to scare the kiddies.

This year I am sitting on the front porch, cup of coffee, fine cigar...and my daughter comes running around the corner yelling,"Daddy, the ladder truck is coming down the street."

Some of the guys were out passing out candy, testing out the new GPS system on the Aerial Truck. I thought that was pretty neat.

I did the sit and what for trick-or-treaters thing again this year. No one stopped at the house, which wasn't a big surprise. I think I've only had 10 trick-or-treaters stop over the past 10 years, and that is including the one year where I had 4 come to the door.

DANG???? I get around 50 or so. It helps that the REALLY RICH neighborhood is just across the way. The kiddies go there for the big scores.

Scorch, I remember the good old days of planning the trick or treating...we knew the houses to hit, the ones to miss. Then there was the old guy down the street (he was a widower who was pretty cool) he ran out of candy one year and gave out shots of GOOD Scotch and Burbon. FYI, he died in 1982...and I miss him.

What was the most popular costume for you guys this year...Apparently it was a close run between Pirate and Princess. Though the "SNOTTY TEENAGER without a costume" ran a close race too.

I may have mentioned my Senior Year College costume....

Um thanks for the visual.....LOL...I have a friend who took his little 5 year old daughter for trick or treat a few years ago. She was secretly stuffing herself with candy as they went. Ended up getting to one of the last houses...the nice lady holds out this HUGE bowl of candy....the little girl does a technicolor yawn in the bowl...(LOL).....

I was thinking of you last night Mapes. I saw a news story that many pounds (is it ok to call them that still or is it quadruped detention center and processing center?) were not adopting out any black cats for the Halloween season because many were being used for pranks, sacrifices and stuff. Any truth to that?

I read that our company will be adopting out black cats. the funny thing is we did not have that many.

Ha! Great pics, scorchie!

This year was the first year BowlderSon opted out of trick-or-treating, so we just handed out candy. We had around 50-100 kids come by, about 20 of whom were from our neighborhood. There's a pretty dangerous neighborhood only a couple miles away, so the parents like to bring their kids over to ours. They're all really nice kids, saying thank you, happy halloween, etc.

Also, the phone rang just after B-Son & -Gal headed off for his piano lesson. "It's Val. We have to go to the ER - can you come over?!" Turns out their youngest son - age 0.6? - had smacked his head on something. Also, they didn't really need me to stay with their other one (three adults were there, two kids - not sure why they didn't think they could handle things). He came home with 7 stitches.

We handed out candy to kids with thicker beards and deeper voices than I have. Also, saw lots of teens dressed as hoochie mama's. Lots of midriffs.

Day...I think thats formal wear for most kids now (LOL).

My daughter earlier this fall was trying to get something together she comes out with the midriff shirt and low rise jeans...she asks, "Guess who I am going as?"

"Hooker?" I asked...(LOL) she changed.
