Yeah, I was surprised to see it myself. I drove in from WI @ La Crosse on I-90. The hwy wound through valleys and switched back up mountainsides and ran along ridges etc. The views back toward the Mighty Mississip were darned sweet if I may say so myself.

Then the terrain suddenly became very plainsy once I reaced the plateau - rolling hills offering distant views across the picturesque farmland. The alternating rows of crops and the silhouettes of silos were visible in all directions - It was suddenly "Big Sky" country.

Then, taking a route alongside the Root River, I was in canyon land.

Cool. I reckon if one MUST live in the Midwest, Lizs chose one of the better spots...

It was a verry good time!

Ferst, ever buddy loded ther pakpaks on the truk and we rode in the truk to the woods.

We put on ower pakpaks and walked in the woods. My daddy had likker in the watter boddel so we did not have verry much watter so me and him and Gissmeaux walked the nother way to get some watter and Miss Lissy walked the nother way and made a tent and a fire.

Me and Gissmeaux and my daddy walked to a cow yard and crald under a fents and some nother fents and fownd a creek.

Then a man rode on his leventy weeler and sayed "what are yall doin in my cow yard gettin a dreenk?!" and my daddy sayed "we was thersty and did not see no nother creek acept this creek." and the man sayed "oh".

Any ways the man sayed I got gooood watter over ther by side the hog fents and and my daddy sayed "you are verry welcom - heer is some dollers" and my daddy gave him some dollers and we got good watter by side the hog fents in a fawsit.

Them hogs was CRAZY! They was rite by side the fents and sayed "yall crall under the fents and we will EET YALL!" and Gissmeaux sayed "AH! yall are CRAZY HOGS if yall theenk yall will eet me cuz I will get you some VERRY GOOD ressel ups!" and Gissmeaux done some good grals and the hogs sayed "OH MY GOODYS! ther is a WOOF!" and them hogs rund the nother way! BOL!

So enny ways we walked in the woods wher the man sayed was a good trale to walk and in a minnit we was at the kimp groun with Miss Lissy.

We ate suppers and got on ower sleepy bags but ther was coyotas sayin "woowoowooooooooo" and I did not sleep verry much. Ther was deers sayin "ssssnnnnnooooot sssssnnnnnnnooooooot" to and I did not sleep verry much els.

When it was day time we walked to (this is VERY SKEERY so do not reed it if you are a skeerdy chikken) THE SKEERY WOOF BARE CABE!

Oh my goodys! I did not beleev we was reely at the Skeery Woof Bare cabe! I gess the Skeery Woof Bare was walkin in the nother woods gettin ded aminals cuz we did not see him in them nother woods and cabe wher we was but we seen ded aminal bones in his cabe.

Then we walked some more and got ower pakpaks off and sleept in the truk and that is the end.

Sarabelle, good morning!! Good report!

Do you remember that since you and your daddy and your hubby were off getting water (cuz of the earlier need for Bailey's), and I walked all alone.... that all of a sudden I looked up and THERE WAS A HUNTER IN A TREE STAND!!!

I was almost to him, apparently deep in thought in the woods and not looking around much as I normally would.

He just motioned for me to go by. i didn't say, "HEY, HOWDY THERE, HOW'S THE HUNTING" well, for good reason. I just walked in front and hoped he wouldn't shoot me. I don't know if he had a gun or a bow.

IT WAS WOOF BARE SKEERY!!

shawn -
do your own thread, K?

What?
You didn't know that both Lizs and I (not to mention Gismeaux and Sarabelle) have seen and done the West?

You should get out more. You'd learn to appreciate the beauty of every far-flung corner of this beautiful nation.

Take your elitist (and limited) attitude elsewhere.

Sweet pix....how much trouble would you get in camping somewhere on those bluffs over the Mississippi? I'd love to look out over that in the morning over coffee.

Aahhhhh yes. I know places to camp on the bluffs, probably in Yellow River St. Forest, but maybe at the place we were. I'm thinking the Dorer Forest has dispersed camping, though, so you probably could.

500 years = "a matter of weeks".

jeffers -
I, personally, wouldn't have a problem w/stealth camping if neccessary - though Lizs was prolly on the money about dispersededness. LNT as always.
