Springer Approach ... With Baby on Board ?View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 8 of 8 messages posted.
A reasonable dayhike? “We are going to be staying in North Georgia for a few days in November and I am thinking about a dayhike - preferably one that I can carry my 19 month-old in the backpack/carrier. The approach trail has the most appeal to me but I know it's tough. Is it too tough to do safely with a little one on my back?” 8:41:39 AM 10/26/03 “well you won't have to worry much about altitude sickness” 8:43:21 AM 10/26/03 “You should be fine, Coop. There are a few areas where the trail gets rather overgrown at this time of year and footing can be alittle tricky; be careful and you'll be fine.” 9:12:54 AM 10/26/03 “get grandmaw to watch the baby and go have fun....” 9:15:53 AM 10/26/03 “hMmmm... 8.8 miles.. 1500 climbs five times.. hMmmmm.. It's your call.” 9:53:27 AM 10/26/03 “To quote G00SE, 'That trail's a b!tch!' Of course, he hiked up it in the rain and then ran back down it. (it's a long story) I don't think I'd do it as a dayhike with baby on board.” 10:05:25 AM 10/26/03 “Thanks for the feedback ya'll. Another - more tame option is the AT between Neel's Gap and Hogpen Gap which I think is only about 5 miles and not as many ups.” 10:11:23 AM 10/26/03 “Neels to Hogpen is a nice pretty stretch, but there are some ups and downs. It's also about 6.4 miles. But still, on a good day, you'd probably be alright.” 12:37:16 PM 10/26/03
