Gay City State Park

“I went on a day hike to this nice park on Sunday with my wife, son and brother-in-law. This park is only 1500 acres but it offers an extinct woolen mill town with ruins and an old cemetary.
We did a quick 5 mile loop around the perimeter of the park. nice weather although it sprinkled on us for the last half of the trip. My son had a very wild ride since i decided to take the joggin stroller instead of the backpack. His backpack sucks and it kills my shoulders(but that's in another thread).

The trail was mainly old roads, but was very wet in some parts.

This park is located near Hebron Ct. connecticut is filled with small state parks with lots of dayhiking. We are going to try to hike a differnt state park in CT every weekend.”

“Have to check those out Jmitch, I never realized how many small parks there are in CT. I was always just bummed because there is almost no overnight backpacking.”

On the other thread when you say your son outgrew his backpack, you mean the pack you carry him in correct? I have the Kelty Trek, but haven't tried it with much over 30-35lbs. I think it's good to 50lbs. It's great and the kidlets always liked it.”
