whoaaaaaaaa...........
I had no ideas my newspaper stories were so well traveled!!! I have stories on a New Zealand motorcycle touring site; on the Peace Corps website; on a tobacco website; a Catholic seminary website...... BIZARRE!!

Next question... attorneys>> None of these places asked permission to run the stories. Legal ramifications here?? No, I won't be sueing, but geeeeeeeez....

the paper you work for usually has copyright over your work.
I've found some of mine coming up in strange places in the past too. Do your papers have any links with agencies.

You're not going to bring suit?

Do you own the copyright?

No? Well then you didn't have standing anyway.

I will send you a bill in the mail.

I would imagine that is correct on the copyright. But I don't recall getting calls from any of these places to run stuff (well, OK, I knew the New Zealand people wanted the story... and I was told, "If you ever come to New Zealand, you will not have to worry about where to stay." lol!!)

I mean, at our paper we'll reprint stuff. But we always call firstk and get permission. I guess at least these places credited the paper and myself.... (hmmmm, now I'm wondering about the ones that DON'T!! Probably some just steal the stuff to run)

YY.... what do you do in the journalism field?

And Bobo... any ties to bobblers (which I have NOT looked at... lol)

The papers hold the copyright, but rarely enforce it. They can call the editor or publisher for permission to reprint a story.

Did they at least credit you and the paper?

I 'Yahoo'-ed my name once and found that someone had posted a joke (years ago!) from an old email account I had. In the old days, we had just a few computers for a whole office and we would occasionally forget to log off our own account. Anyway, this geek's joke web site had this joke credited to me, and listed under some heading like "nasty offensive jokes" or something. Actually, the joke wasn't that bad, but the problem was that this link would be the first hit on either Yahoo or Google. So if anyone wanted to find our family web site and typed in my name, the first listing was NASTY OFFENSIVE JOKES! I contacted the guy; he agreed to take my name off of the joke; he didn't after a year, so I hinted I might resort to legal action; he got all huffy and promised to NEVER take my name off of it. I didn't bother contacting him again - what a stupid loser computer geek....

I'm writing and editing about business stuff at the moment(a piece of me dies daily, but the rut has a furry lining). For a long time I was a reporter, then a sub-editor (copy editor) - and editor of a community paper for a while... then a reporter again then....

inspired, i also Googled my nombre. i am apparently a Singles Ministry Coordinator, a sock puppeteer, some sort of scientist, an optician, an appreciator of a poem called "old glory," and a Kiwanian of the Year! that's what i get for marrying a guy with a common last name.

I apparently recently asked for a translation of a Norwegian language document on a language translation forum. The rest of the hits (other than the joke) were actually related to me (mostly running results - yawn....).

copyright....I found a couple websites the other day that displayed my banners as their samples. Of course I threaded them with a lawsuit. Took the person 1 minute to take it down.

I got in trouble once using an image a client had sent me. Found out 2 years later that the client did not have any rights. They made ME pay for 2 years of usage. Hmm, about $2,000 worth. I wanted to kill that client, but after 2 years, he was nowhere to be found.

Just did a websearch for Tarabull. Lots of webshots and TT links.

Got a link to the Buckeye's Bull Terrier Club... apparently there is a bull terrier named Tarabull.

And, some guy did a recap on a MTV show called Tough Enough... where, I gathered, people compete to join the WWF. Seems one of the contestants was named Tara... "Contestant #45 is Tara and her nickname is “Tarabull”. Dumb. Say’s she can be a #&%!$, can be nice, can be naughty. I see multiple personalities disorder here."

He didn't like the nickname? :-(

Between it an pop up blocker from panicware, I only see popups when I absolutely need to be able to open new screens.

I'd think you have to have a pretty unique name to find any info about yourself. Thousands of people have my name, I'd have to do some real digging to find anything about me.

Even if I tried to narrow the results by including the name of my town it'd be hard to find any info, when I went to vote in November there were 4 other people with my name just in my precinct...
