Hawk over Mono Lake

I was hangin' out along the shore of Mono Lake in the morning as I often do. Many times I drive down from SacOfTomatoes and crash out in the desert along Mono Lake to catch the sunrise there, and then head on down Hwy. 395 to hike into the mighty High Sierra out of Bishop or Lone Pine. But here I was just enjoying the morning, well after the sun had risen, but still remained low in the sky. I sorta liked the clouds and the effect my wide angle had on it, so I lined up a shot with the sun behind me, looking towards the snow-crested Sierra. I put the timer on 10-second delay so my finger wouldn't potential shake the camera when I clicked the shutter. The timer counted down... 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 -... and right then a hawk swooped down from the upper right side of my frame, totally unplanned... 2 - 1... it hovered for a second... "click"... and then the hawk rapidly dipped down and across my view and out of sight. I had no idea until I got my slides back if the hawk was even in the shot. Complete luck, I had nothing to do with it, I can't take credit for having a hawk in this shot, not one iota. No sirrr reeee.

Buck, why don't u make a webshots photo album and put all the pictures on there and then just create 1 thread with a link to the pictures? It's a lot easier and doesn't slow down people's modems who don't have cable. Just a suggestion :)

Or 2scoops could quit being a tighta$$ and get DSL. LOL!

I like how Buck presents a single picture at a time and gives the story behind each shot. You get a lot more out of it.

Hi Scorchfire! I'm sorry you're still on the World Wide Wait. If I post a photo, it only affects this thread, right, not the whole page? I hope I'm not bogging down the forum! Yikes, if so, I apologize. I don't have Webshots albums, although I should. I have some photos at Photo.net, but they're all pretty much random, so linking would be useless. Would it help if I warned you with a "WARNING, PHOTO ENCLOSED" so you are alerted not to click on that thread? One thing I can do is post the photos smaller with a link to a larger version if someone cares to view it larger. Hey, I'm willing to work with ya here. Let's work together and make this world a better place. Starting... not yet... not yet... not yet... okay, starting NOW! Let's do it.

Beautiful
I always was so amazed by the beauty of richness of life at Mono Lake.

Great pic. I love your threads. If we're voting, keep doing what you're doing. You only slow down the loading of your own thread, nothing else. People will catch on that most of your threads have pics, they can decide if they want to go for it or not.

In MSIE, they can also go to Internet Options-Advanced-Multimedia-show image placeholders, or something like that, to suppress downloading of the pics while still being able to read the thread.

Sorry, ScorchedOne. :-)
