About a month ago i made an amazing discovery. Macaroni and cheese can be made in the microwave, and no i'm not talking that easymac crap. From there i discovered that there are a million things that can be microwave prepared such as hamburger helper, rice a roni, ect.

Today, while looking for my next culinary delight, I noticed something. It's called minute rice in a bag. They take minute rice and put it in a mesh type bag. You boil it for 5 min and presto, instant rice. No clean up no nothing. In the same area I also found turkey topping in a bag. Think pot pie filling in a package.

It seems that americans are becoming so lazy, that they can no longer cook for themselves, clean up or even go out to eat. So companies have started marketing high quality MREs. While it is a sad statement to today's society, it's a big bonus to us BPers. Especially that rice in a bag thing. That's friggin bad a double s.

What's up with that, bit?

Didn't she have 20 minutes to cook rice?

I still cook
If you have a family, you have to cook usually. Well, I take that back when my kids were younger and I worked for the state and was pulling in big bucks, I went out to eat alot. But, now, I truly resent having to cook for others, when I'm on a diet! LOL

Fryed turkey is da bomb!
I thaw a turkey, remove the bag of crap, rub cajun seasioning all over and in and lower that baby into the 350 degree peanut oil for about an hour and 20 minutes.

I have a giant boiler/fryer just like bit's pic. Use about 5 gal of oil.

I generally fry 3 or 4 of them Thanksgiving morning. One for my family and the rest for other family members.

The frying seals in the juices, and the oil doesn't absorb into the meat.

I do walk everyday!

But, it is true I'm not from the south, from the west I am.

And, we grill alot here. But I did have a lovely trip to KY and TN and did eat the most fabulous food there. The south does know how to cook. I love their hushpuppies.

StoveStomper - get one of those meat injectors and really load up that turkey before you deep fry it. In other words cajun spices outside, inside and IN the turkey meat itself.

I was shopping for grub for deer camp. I found a non-stick pot and non-stick pan for $2.88 each. I bought a handful of plastic spatulas and spoons for $0.50 each.

At the end of the week they all go in the trash. No dirty dishes for me.

i know minute rice has been around forever, but now it's in individual bags that you throw in boiling water!!! Throw bag in, wait 5 min, pull out and server. Bigity bam.

Somebody had asked why they call it "minute rice" if it takes 5 minutes to make. Think about it. If they called it "5-minute rice", it would take 25 minutes. By then you could go jump in your car and go through a freaking drive-thru.

But we must transcend the batter... surpass the coconut encrusted prawns and the Vidalia onion rings, to arrive at the essence of the beer.

Coop is right. We've not learned to slow down a little. i know it's easy to say, but we all need to smell the roses. But, coming out of the negitive, we bper's do benifit from these advances. Just as long as I don't still look like I'm 30 when I 80 from all of the preservitives :)
