Those were incredible shows and it was hard to come up with the top 5 because there were so many other good ones (Peter Gabriel, AC/DC, Dylan, Hendrix, Ten Years After, etc.)

My list is saaaaaaaaaaad. But lets try anyhoo!!! They're mostly from college days, 77-81 (yeah, DUDE, I KNOW... I'm OLD!! lol)

1. Billy Joel, fall '78, Iowa State University

2. Cheap Trick... fourth row... old U of Iowa fieldhouse

3. Cars... UNI-dome, Cedar Falls

4. John Cougar Mellencamp before he was anybody (and before getting kicked off the KISS tour for bad language, according to the documentary on CMT)... with KISS... Five Seasons Center, Cedar Rapids

5. Bruce Hornsby..... ISU... and another concert at Luther College

TOP RADIO INTERVIEW I DID: Huey Lewis and the News... never did meet him or go to concert however.

WEIRDEST CONCERT: George Clington P-Funk (I won the tix) at Luther College

BEST CONCERT I MISSED: When Dave Matthews recorded "Live at Luther College"... and the freakin' ex F*ed up boss' wife moved in on my arts & leisure beat for the interview/concert. #&%!$ING BEEYATCH!

BEST "CHRISTIAN" CONCERT: Jars of Clay, Luther College.

Jefferson Airplane free in Golden Gate Park just jamin in '67. Doobs,Todo and Little River Band at Mountain Air '74. Three Pearl Jam concerts plus a Bridge School Concert(Neil Young,Pearl Jam,Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, Indigo Girls,Mazy Star, Dave Droedge,)three Tori Amos and one on tour with Allanis M. Sarah McLachlan (is that five) and oh yea Steeley Dan way back when.

Seen a bunch of good ones, these stand out.

Fugazi- Margin Walker tour at the VFW hall in Gainesville. Best show I have EVER seen

Overkill/Motorhead/Slayer- South of Heaven tour. Daytona Beach Arena

Special Beat- Reunion tour of member of The Specials and English Beat. First US appearence. The Milk Bar Jax. Fl.

Redd Kross- Neurotica tour

Metallica- And Justice for all tour

I heard that Fugazi puts on an amazing show.

I saw Metallica twice... the one time at Woodstock 99 and the other time this past tour... I can't remember the name of the tour, drawing a brain fart. It was with Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, and company.

They used too. I saw them on their next tour and I walked out. It was nowhere near the level of that first show. I guess my expectations had been set so high as be be unreachable.

Yea,.. that's gotta suck. Pearl Jam blew me away the first time I saw them in NYC, but yet they continue to surpass my expecatations each time. I have yet to find another band who does that to me.
