Good for you Scorch. I quit on Jan 1 of this year. The TT family was very supportive and helpful. If you need to see some pics that will help you keep quitting... search the Michigan Mountaineers Support Group and check out what Pathman showed us. Truly disgusting stuff.

Holy crap, I didn't expect THIS much of a response
Wow! Thanks for all of the support. And also, congrats to everyone else who quit!

Today was my first day without a cigarette in about 2 months (I had quit previously for 3 months and once school started up again, I got a little stressed out and went back). Overall I've been smoking since i was 14 (unfortunately).

Anyway....

kodiakman: yea, i was on the patch before and it gave me nightmares.. should be interesting to see what i dream about tonight. maybe tea.. oh wait, that'd be a nightmare ; )

bobo: don't get fresh young man!

stratusloop: yea! break out the snow bong!

gemini: 5 months?! wow, congrats! hopefully i'll be saying that five months from now.

laqtis: thanks for the tips.. i liked the part where i picture everyone smoking as an old leather handbag,.. LOL

ynami: what kinds of lozenges?

2poops (stormbringer, wtf ever): i tried the zyban (wellbutrin) but it gave me really bad side effects.. ringing in ears, cotton mouth to the max, nightmares, constant dissociation feelings,.. not good. i stopped it after 2 weeks. i'd rather try just the patch again. it worked once, it'll work again! this time i'm determined.

artex: buy ice tea dinner with the money i've saved?? pssssssh.. that boy owes me a week's worth of food after what i had to put up with this past weekend! LOL jk

stikmon: denver trip in july?? hmm.... if i have enough money, count me in!

reptiles: thanks for the tips... btw, i love your trail name.

calmwater: fly up the steep trails? HA, need more practice.

phil : congrats on quitting!

tarabull: you as well!

Thanks again all : )

Yeah, that Zyban is some weird wild stuff. I was bouncing off the walls for about a week. Funny thing... after I quit taking the Zyban I didn't need the nicotine gum anymore.

That's true, Tilt,.. but cigarettes have that familiarity to it... since I've been doing it for almost 9 years.

Working on it at least. Good luck to you Scorchfire. I've been smoking for about 16 years and the habit is pretty much hardwired, but I'm determined to do it. Ask me in a few weeks how I'm doing and if the rest of my family is still putting up with me.

I know it's not the same thing but...I recently stopped smoking cigars after approx 13 yrs. I would usually smoke a cigar after work everyday and maybe 3 or 4 on the weekends.

I don't miss it a bit. I used the money I'm saving to buy myself a really cool digital camera and some new hiking gear.

My friend quit 2 weeks ago. She was sitting in her kitchen with a cigarette in one hand, ashtray on the table and the phone on the other hand...then she called me.

She didnt' smoke yet. I am not sure if she is going to make it, but I'll try my hardest to help her.

Do you have any friends that you could call? Well, you got TT, that's great....

Try them I am not sure how much their lame support will help you, but the number of days showing everytime I login sure does help me. The basic site is free, and that's all you need anyway. They have a couple good clubs like the "#&%!$ club" that's where you get your a$$ cursed out...if that's what you need.
