My Boots Stink !!!View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 20 of 20 messages posted.
Nooobie here... “I wear my Asolo's Everyday! My feet love em. I took them off this weekend and PEEEW they STINK! Any tips on anti-stinkness, I know washing them, but anything extra, or different to give them the freshness they deserve? Or should I just let the stink get worse so they can be declared WMD's LOL” 2:30:23 PM 11/12/03 “Baking Soda” 2:31:38 PM 11/12/03 “KY Jelly.” 2:32:54 PM 11/12/03 “It's because you are a Yankmee fan. LOL!” 2:40:32 PM 11/12/03 “It's using coolmax socks that kills my boots smellwise. Merino wool ones are better.” 2:41:28 PM 11/12/03 “ARKY, It would be spelled "STANKEEE" lol SOX SUX The Baking soda? Do I mix it with the water or just pour some in there like baby powder and let it absorb the smellies ??” 2:45:25 PM 11/12/03 “Speaking of Stinky feet. What's your worse stinky feet story ? This will be good I'm sure!” 2:47:23 PM 11/12/03 “What's your worse stinky feet story I wish my dog was here to tell that story.... my dog died” 2:57:55 PM 11/12/03 “Fill some old but tight-woven socks with baking soda and stuff them in your boots when you aren't wearing them.” 3:02:40 PM 11/12/03 “my post was a joke, see the dog goes and smells the shoe and dies. haha” 3:29:33 PM 11/12/03 “Go with tree's idea. I have seen a product in the past called "Stinky Pinkies" that were like this. Basically they were small charcol filled bags you kept in your shoes when they were not on your feet.” 3:59:31 PM 11/12/03 “Dont #&%!$ in ur shoes...no matter how cold it is out side ur tent!!” 5:01:24 PM 11/12/03 Get Some Bugs To Eat The Stink Away “My Asolos got some funk to them on one trip to the Daks, the only thing that took the stank away was MiraZyme. Although I cannot prove it in court, I believe it was from the GoreTex lining making my feet ferment because my old boots w/o GT (leather lined) never did this, and you know how bad synthetic clothing can work up a stink.” 5:45:23 PM 11/12/03 And Another Thing... “Oh yeah, and to prevent further fermentation after the boots are off dry them as fast as you can however you can.” 5:46:44 PM 11/12/03 “Baking Soda Or Febreze! 8)” 5:52:09 PM 11/12/03 “baking soda is good. I like tree's idea of keeping old socks in 'em to use as fresheners. Also, try Gold Bond medicated powder - you can sprinkle some in your boots every time you wear 'em, if you want. The problem with wearing your backpacking boots every day is that your feet will sweat a lot more in them when you are, say, walking the mall instead of hiking the trail. The increased moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus! Eventually your feet will fall off. Have fun. ;p Keep'em clean and keep 'em dry. :o)” 6:09:59 AM 11/13/03 “Snafu its not the boots its your Stankee feet! In college my room mates feet and shoes stunk so bad that I made him keep them in a garbage bag with stickups in it. His feet smelled so bad that you could smell it down the hall when he took his shoes off!” 9:06:45 AM 11/13/03 Stanks for the info Gang :-) “LOL @ LThiker I normally dont have STANKEEEE feet. It's just the boots that are getting a good smell to 'em. I just like wearing them all the time, Theym make think/day dream, that they will take me away to a wonderful mountainside. I prolly should get my old pair of LL beans back out and wear those. Amy G, your right! My feet get hot sometimes even sitting here in Cubical Cell # G-54! So, I just take them off and everyone thinks the lady across from me had fish for lunch again...LOL I think I will retire them for hiking only, and put some baking soda filled socks in them.. Again, Gracius for the putrid info.” 9:53:37 AM 11/13/03 “treebait nailed it.” 11:05:42 AM 11/13/03 “If you don't wanna smell your stinky boots, don't use underarm deodarant. Eventually the boot stink goes away.” 11:09:40 AM 11/13/03
