Here's what a lab rat looks like: ”2:48:54 PM 1/05/05 “NZW Rabbit ”2:50:29 PM 1/05/05 “Dutch Belted: Only used them for an opthalmic pharma. It was completly non-toxic, fortunately.” 2:52:06 PM 1/05/05 “i would love to own some rats.” 2:58:29 PM 1/05/05 OMG, my cat is so frickin cute! “I ask her all the time who gave her permission to be so darn cute! ”6:20:49 PM 1/14/05 “ ![]() My dogs rule the world. Here's an artsy fartsy shot of my dog Sierra. I wasn't sure how this shot would turn out, and I still haven't decided if it's total crap or completely brilliant. I like fishing.” 6:50:27 PM 1/14/05 “Your cat IS really cute, pixie! She looks like she has lipstick on! And i really like your artsy fartsy picture of Sierra, Buck. I wish i had a picture of my cat,Dusty, to send, when he is sleeping. He covers his eyes with his paws!” 10:15:18 PM 1/14/05 “pixie, she is very pretty. Buck, I'm sorry, but I don't like that shot. It would have been better if the dog was in focus the the plant material was out of focus. I know you have a beautiful dog anyway from her pic on tt. So how do I go about taking a photo of my dog that's saved on the computer and put it on this page? If it's easy enough, I would love to know. To pet owners, I read that it's best to switch your pet's food every 6 months to a different brand so you don't build up different toxins that may be in each brand. I like to switch off every couple of weeks just incase one food is lacking in important minerals or vitamins that the other brand has. Also, I only feed my dog premium quality food. Even within the premium brand they have different levels of quality food. The lesser quality foods are usually still called premium, but they are termed as "good value". Soft food is supposed to be better and should have the first two ingredients listed as meat or poultry depending on what you are buying, though broth may be listed first, but it should not have a grain as the second ingredient.” 10:42:22 PM 1/14/05 6:42:10 AM 1/15/05 “Soft food will rot your pet's teeth. They really need crunchy too.” 7:29:53 AM 1/15/05 “Pixie, your cat looks just like my cat named Little Bit.” 10:41:21 AM 1/15/05 “Nigal my man.... I didn't take you for a cat person for some reason. So much for internet impressions huh? ![]() My dog Taylor. He's a knothead, but it's to be expected for a Jack Russell Terrier last edited: 1/15/05 10:47:02 AM” 10:44:55 AM 1/15/05 “Sass, yes, I've heard hard food is better for the teeth, but soft food is better nutritionally. You should also brush your dogs teeth, especially with Chihuahuas or they lose them early in life and can get gingervitis. I've done some research and found 3 good dog foods (canned), Chicken Noodle Soup for a Dog Lover's Soul, Nutro Ultra Natural, and Natural Balance. Nigal, that's a pretty cat and an unusual pic, nice, but unusual. Hobbit, your dog is so cute with his coloring. I met someone with a Jack Russell and she called him a Jack Russell Terrorist, lol.” 8:24:55 PM 1/15/05 “Lipstick, that's a pretty apt description. I've also heard them called a Jack Russell Terror. We adopted him from a rescue organization in Oklahoma 5 years ago. He's been an amazing pet and well worth it.” 8:55:50 PM 1/15/05 “I think I saw that dog on Star Trek.... ![]() 5:59:25 PM 1/16/05 “lmao here are my animals This is Tony, my IRN. You can see my fish in the back. ![]() In the tank is school of blood fin tetras, an african brown knife, and some golden algae eaters. This is Corbin, my sheltie. He'd be a good trail dog, except he doesn't like getting dirty. Heck he refuses to go outside if the grass is wet, or sometimes if it's just too long. ”7:05:49 PM 1/16/05 “Cute cat, Pixie. Looks chubby in the picture, is that just the angle of the shot? Nigal, I love grey cats. Deathmarch, beautiful pup. I wouldn't want to get dirty either if I had long hair like that.” 7:16:16 PM 1/16/05 “death, you have a beautiful Sheltie. I really like the look of those dogs. My Chihuahua walks with her legs high up when she has to go pee on wet grass in the backyard. If it's raining, she looks, turns right around and pees inside on her wee wee pad.” 1:20:42 AM 1/17/05 “Oh I love cats. I've always had cats. Stompy's a real wierdo cat. She likes to play in the water bowl and bat the water around, she's 6 years old but still acts like a kitten and of course, there's that stomping thing she does.” 9:25:20 AM 1/17/05 “Here's to many more years with Stompy. Our cat was over 18 when we parted with him.” 9:33:30 AM 1/17/05 “Nigal, it must be the grey color. My Pewter is the same way. He's 5, but acts obnoxiously, like a kitten. What's the stomping thing? Is it the same thing as kneading? 'cause that's not a grey cat thing. I think its a girl cat thing.” 9:52:42 AM 1/17/05 “Yeah, it’s the kneading thing but taken to a whole new level. She is a small thing with tiny feet but she’s about 9 pounds so her little feet hurt. We can hear her coming a mile away and can even hear her up stairs stompin’ around. When me and dog are gone she jumps up on Kelly at night and stomps on her back and last time she stood on her head and stomped her. LOL! I’ve always heard the kneading thing is caused by being taken from the mother too early. The kneading thing is what they do when nursing. My 16 year old cat did it his whole life. He’d jump on a fleece blanket and just knead and knead and knead while sucking on the blanket. ???? I’ve got the wife talked into finally getting a new cat to replace the last one that died but she insists on a white long haired female. Not an easy cat to find at the pound. Now had she wanted a calico…” 10:00:19 AM 1/17/05 happy feet “Nigal, I've never known a cat not to do "happy feet" aka stomping. LOL! Yes, my Lu used to be a chubby girl, but now she's thin. Her kidneys were giving her trouble. She's doing good though and at 11 she runs all over the place and plays. She likes my new place because I have a hallway for the first time. She just like run down the hall. It's funny. And since there is berber carpet I can hear her little footsteps. Corbin is GORGEOUS! Holy cow! What a beautiful dog.” 5:51:59 PM 1/17/05 of course “all the pets are beauties. I love the sweet little critters. I want to see a pic of Little Bit! Is he/she siamese and grey tabby too?” 5:56:34 PM 1/17/05 “pixie, there may be special food you can buy for a cat with kidney problems. You would have to ask your vet or pet store. Sometimes only vets carry foods for special needs. Nigal, a long haired cat like a Persian would need constant brushing to keep the cat's hair from matting. My friend had a long haired calico, but did not have to keep brushing the cat's hair to keep it from clumping. I think kneading is a throw back to when they were kittens and the kneaded to get milk from the mother.” 6:01:37 PM 1/17/05 Oh and... “Nigal, you know how her feet hurt you when she walks on you? I call that "pokey paws." It's particularly painful when Lu steps right on my belly button. Ouch!!” 6:02:44 PM 1/17/05 “HOW DO YOU POST AN ANIMAL PICTURE???? I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT!! Here is my netherland dwarf bunni named Dusty.... Oh yeah Dub wants me to change my name, any ideas???? Amor, Sherie G last edited: 1/17/05 6:04:30 PM” 6:03:26 PM 1/17/05 “You have to have your pic somewhere where you can link to it. I use photobucket.com Sites like Webshots doesn't work. Then you go to the picture, right click on it which opens a menu. At bottom of menu, select Properties. A window opens, highlight and copy the http: url address. Then in the thread, type with brackets around it ( < and >) img src="paste the url address here"width="250" Go to the "html test" thread and practice. Folks who are more knowledgable than I are often there to help. last edited: 1/17/05 6:30:41 PM” 6:30:13 PM 1/17/05 “PS, bunnies are the best.” 6:31:26 PM 1/17/05 “Pixie, she's siamese/grey tabby or calico kind of thing. There's about 4 more of her running around the neighborhood too. The Mother cat's owner refused to take her back when I rescued her when she was a tiny kitten; she got left out on a freezing night and was pinned under a van by a chow dog. Her siblings all found homes around here, which is lucky for them.” 6:36:45 PM 1/17/05 “Hi Sherie! How's things going? I say ya go by ShutterBug. :)” 6:38:36 PM 1/17/05 Hmm my post didn't work... “lipstick, yes, she's tried them all and has been to the vet about frequently for over a year. She is on two supplements that seem to help. She doesn't like the kidney diet foods. She turns her little nose up at them. treebait, that lady is mean. She shouldn't be allowed to have pets. But I'm glad all the kitties got homes. I think it's a beautiful mix of breeds and I haven't seen it very often honestly. I like Nigals kitty's look too. The Russian Blue fur is so pretty.” 6:43:50 PM 1/17/05 “The big three for older cats is kiddnies, thyroid and diabeties. My cat Buddy had the kiddnies, thyroid, asthma and cronic constipation. Ever give a cat an enema? It's like trying to harness lightning without getting hurt.” 6:47:04 PM 1/17/05 Let me tell you about my kitten... “I found my kitten trying to cross a road one day while I was on my way to work. I put my flashers on, jumped out and scooped him up, carrying him across to the other side. I set him down and figured he'd be safe. I walked a couple steps, looked back (yea, that was the turning point) and watched as he stumbled towards me 2 feeble steps and fell over sideways, mouthing a "meow" which never came out. Being at work, I dind't have time to be rescuing kittens, I had waaaayyy too much to do. So, of course, I picked him back up, flea-ridden and nothing but skin & bones, literally. I was afraid to pick him up by the scruff of his neck because I could feel his neck bone! I took my water bottle, wet a napkin and dripped water into his mouth and he started drinking the drops as they fell. I work in construction and had to go to several jobs, so I put him in my baseball cap (lined with paper towels) and by the time I got to the 2nd job, all of our crew came out to the truck asking about the kitten. Apparently the guy from the first job felt inclined to inform his coworkers of the new company mascot. Ah, Nextel, what would we do without it? Of course even though I picked him up, there was NO WAY I had time to take him to the vet. So I made a 2 o'clock appointment. The vet didn't think he would live. He had so many fleas, he said they would drain his blood until he died unless we could get rid of them. Also he had to be fed every 4 hours for the next seven days, around the clock. He weighed <4oz and was <2 weeks old. His nose and eyes were clogged with infection so we had to give him antibiotics 3x a day. Not the kind of pet you bring home to your significant other as a present. "Here, honey, look what I found!" So for the next week, my girlfriend & I took shifts, her during the day (she wasn't working) and me at night. Every 4 hours, wake up, heat up the bottle in the microwave and feed him like a furry little baby. When we took him back to the vets a few weeks later, he couldn't believe it. Not only did he survive, but he was starting to look almost healthy. Of course, he thinks I'm his mommy, I reckon 'cause I was the one cleaning him, giving him medicine, teaching him to drink & eat, etc. I knew he would be fine when he mustered up enough strength to jump into the tub while I was taking a shower. He stood there in front of me, dripping wet with the water pouring over him, looking up and blinking and wondering is he was doing it right... yep, that's my boy... I haven't learned to put pics on posts yet, but there's pics in my albums if anyone wants to see him. He's a trip. He's 2 years & 5 months now. We assigned August 9th as his birthday.” 7:08:09 PM 1/17/05 Baylus “Here's my trail pal. He hiked 16 miles on the AT and meet several fellow TT'ers at 6 weeks old. Now here he is a few years older and about 100 pounds heavier. I don't think you can wear him out. This photo is from a 30 mile weekend puddlejumper and I just returned from. ”9:19:08 PM 1/17/05 “athikerol, that's a nice story. I'm glad you saved the little kitty. My mom caught some feral kittens and sent them home with various people. This one dumb lady (she's a nurse if you can believe it) let the kitten get fleas like that ! Poor baby. We took him back and my mom's female cat slept next to him and kept him warm, etc. He grew up to be a healthy guy who passed away at about age 10 of lung cancer. Isn't it amazing that a tiny flea en masse can kill a little kitten? (amazing in a negative way of course.) creekjumper, my monitor tends to make darkish pictures look darker, so all I can see is the brown bits on your dog's face, but he looks mighty cute nevertheless.” 1:00:18 PM 1/18/05 “Thanks Pixie! Here's a bit light photo. last edited: 1/18/05 2:20:31 PM” 2:19:57 PM 1/18/05 “: ( It didn't show up. I hate that red x!” 2:26:24 PM 1/18/05 “I'll second that!! There aren't nearly enough Bunnies on the trail!” 5:34:30 PM 1/18/05 “Trail bunnies. (snickering.) My cat would either freak out on the trail or kick some serious ass. She's a tough little mother.” 5:48:56 PM 1/18/05 “The Ferret likes to car camp only.... Total Wimp! <G>” 5:52:33 PM 1/18/05 “LOL! You actually try to take your ferret on the trail?” 6:42:52 PM 1/18/05 “He he he! I put a handful of catnip in the tub(no water, 2 person size) and the cats are going berk! Slip-sliding all over the place! Of course they won't be too happy when HPM gets home from the gym and he needs to get a shower!” 9:34:48 PM 1/24/05 “LOL there was a girl at the shelter that begged to take one of the raccoons home for a few days. only to go into the shower and get a visit from Bam the coon. it seems he got out of the cage and made his way to the bathroom and opened the shower curtain. I was laughing so hard when I heard this. needless to say he went home to the shelter that very same night.” 7:25:27 AM 1/25/05 “Had to take poor Honey to the vets cause she had a hot spot on her neck about 3" round and just scratched to hell and back. Exam: $38 Antibiotics: $48 Antibacterial cream: $28 Cortizone shot: $43 Love of a Golden Retiever: Priceless” 8:03:05 AM 1/25/05 Jump to Page << prev
