“My cat doesn't do anything with them tho. She just watches them. Poor little moochy. She is on the bed right now and the spiders are rallying against her. It's not even her fault!”

“I'm selective about the spiders I allow in and around the house. Jumping spiders are welcome any time. Tunnel spider females are okay, but the males have to go. ( I have a bad reaction to their venom; females aren't aggressive though.) Outside, all widow spiders are hasta la byebye, but big old banana spiders are welcome as long as they don't block doorways or footpaths with their webs.”

“I feel your pain Y2. My girl Lu has been recovering from a kidney infection . Poor girl. She's been in and out getting tests done at the tune $50+ a piece. Past couple of months I've spent about $300 myself.

BTW, I saw a spider in the ladies room here at work and I didn't kill it. Are y'all happy now?”

“Pixie, this was more just an annual service to get him into a hugely expensive kennel and daycare center. Good thing was that the vet thought he was younger than I was previously told. His teeth were stained when I got him as he'd been in rescue place for a year. Much better now.”

“So the wife and I went out for dinner last night and I made sure I was driving. We went by the exit to the animal shelter and I took it. She starts in with, “No! We aren’t going to look at cats because if we go in there we’ll end up bring one home!”. I said, “No pressure. If you don’t see anything you don’ want we walk out empty-handed.”. MOOOHAHAHAHAHA! After or cat Athena died she said she’d like a white long haired cat next. Then she said she didn’t even want another cat. Then after a few months of cajoling and bltching by me she conceded.

We went in and what did we find? A beautiful white, long haired female kitty! I said, “Look! She’s exactly what you wanted!”. She wasn’t ready for adoption yet though because she hadn’t had her vaccinations yet so we have to wait a few days to bring her home. I’ll post pictures when we bring her home.

Then we came home and sat Stompy and Honey Dog down and had a talk with them…”Sometimes when a mommy and daddy love each other very much they go to the pound. Basically you guys are getting a new little sister.”.

“She was abandoned at the shelter so they named he Cristal. Too gay. We always name our pets and then when little personality quirks come out we always end up calling them something else. We're going to wait to name her.”

“I've been considering getting a couple of cats from the shelter. It's been a long time since my beloved old cat passed. I was thinking two cats so they could keep each other company while I was away at work or weekends.”

Anyway in bragging on the pets I have to say that shanedog was lost for 24 hours on the Adventure Hiking trail last weekend and his little pea brain was smart enough to know to back to our day 1 campsite and wait. I found him there the next morning sitting on our tentsight.

“Our Beloved Quaker Parrot George Just passed away. We had him for over 12 years. He had a large vocabulary , but his favorite pass time was blowing kisses, mimicking our Cat, our laughs and even my snoring. His favorite saying was "Whatcha doin, Huh ?!! Anyway, he was a great pet and he will be missed.”

Bear was on the lam for 60 minutes today on our xcountry ski outing i would've completely freaked 'cept, i just skied faster and faster, to release the anxiety, sure enough i returned to the spot of the disappearance and he was trotting in the direction of the car, with 4' long thorny vines trailing behind, and a little blood below his eye”

“All this talk of disappearing dogs...what the heck? I am going to keep my dog on a leash in this apartment for the rest of this year! No outside! Stay in! I could NOT imagine the feeling of not knowing if you will ever see them again. And I am not too sure my dog would be smart enough to go back to where she was last with me since she is all over the place to begin with. God, I hope I never have to experience that. I am glad your dogs came back safely...well, except for the blood under the eye. But at least he brought you the thorns of a lot of roses, WinterSolstice!”

“I had a cat for 16 years named Snowflake. She was all white, but we named her that because she was astray and turned up on our doorstep during a snowstorm, which is unusual in Nashville. She was killed by a pack of stray dogs at age 16. Broke my heart. They cornered her in my tool shed. If I had owned a gun there would have been half a dozen dead dogs in my backyard that day. Brutally mangled dead dogs. I'm getting worked up just thinking about it, and it was four years ago.”

The deeper snow, had been keeping him from getting too far these past 5 weeks of skiing in the woods, too many animal scents yesteday”

“WinterSolstice, that what scares me...the animal scents. My dog will try to track those prints everytime. She is well known to find a nice hole with something living in it, too. At which point, if I don't find HER, I am screwed. Last time, all I could see was her tail and not much butt and she was barking deep inside a nice BIG hole. To this day, if we go to that lake, she knows exactly where that hole is. Of course, these places she ends up are places where I need to bushwhack, cross water, limbo under branches, etc. She really makes it interesting for me to come see "what she found". Damn dog...”

“I contacted Shane's foster parents and they said although they had heard of this kind of behavior (waiting at the last known location) it was hardly common. I was really lucky. Most always Shane is on a leash due to other hikers. I don't like him to be a nuisance and he's fairly large. But it was so empty in the early spring. I can rest assure you that we'll be working on the "close by" command.

“jack, my mom has tons of Quaker Parrots nesting in her neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. They make huge nest on telephone poles. Then I read they have separate rooms in the nest too.

I never knew they could talk. I can always hear them squawking when I visit my mom. I have an African Gray Parrot. He says tons of words and phrases and knows the meaning of a lot of words, especially if they are food related, lol:)

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your bird. If you decide to get a bigger parrot, remember the bird will out live you so you would need someone young to take the bird. I'm sorry I got my bird in a way, because after I'm "gone", even if I can find a sanctuary to leave him to with some money for his care, he will be lost without me and his routine.”

Hey lipstick, I heard there is a colony of Quaker's up, I think in Oak Harbor.
We had a Quaker in our office and she was the devil. She went home to live with one of the office gals thank God. She says all kinds of things. "Breakfast" "Get a bath." etc.

Wolfie, isn't that what JR's are supposed to do? Find animals in holes? I thought I heard while watching a dog show on tv they were bred for that.

My kitty Lu Lu stays inside too. She would run in the street if I let her out. She's not too smart in that sense.”
