“wannabp, yes it would be easier on me to not have to drive up north to drive south again. If hodge and ladyhiker drive to my place Friday night before we leave, then you guys can meet at my place that Saturday morning and caravan. Rockman can do the the same. And Rocky, why do you want to drive solo when you don't have to? Hodge can fit you, ladyhiker, and myself in his jeep and maybe wannabp can take a pack or two so we have more room in the back for a cooler for that Friday night at the hotel. I'm thinking of the really important stuff here. Beer!

wannabp, I just re-read your post. Are you and landscaper coming to Stockton Friday night the 9th? I do have a little floor space to offer but no extra beds. Let me know!”

“I think I'm going to call the Ranger Station and see if I can get a permit to go in at North Lake on Wednesday the 14th - then I'll try to camp with the group on Thursday night at least. I just know the workload is going to be a problem. I've covered Bishop Pass to Muir Pass before, so at least I'll be covering new territory. I'll go into near Lamark Col on Wed, over the Col and try to do Mount Lamark on Thursday, Into Darwin Canyon on Friday, and then back out from there. Anyone else interested in this abbreviated trip?”

“Wingding, is there no way around the work demands? I have to work this and next weekend also -- someone else's vacation moved a deadline from after to before this trip for me, but I am determined to plod along until I get it done. I hope you can find a way.”

“Wing, another hopefully encouraging thought.... Remember last year, I had to cancel a meeting I chair for the Twin Lakes trip? Nothing happened. I went on the trip, the work waited. You deserve the time off. If your boss doesn't realize it, gently let him/her know.”

I'm going in at North Lake on on July 14th. Then I'll go over Lamark Col and do Mount Lamark on the 15th before heading into Darwin Canyon. From there, I haven't decided, but I'll be heading back to the trailhead on 18th. I'll try to meet up with the group for Thursday night in Darwin Canyon. When I see a group of 10 to 15 tents, I'll know I've found the TTer's.”

I'm sorry to hear about your delay, but you just saved me an early morning trip to the Ranger station on Saturday. I moved my permit to start on July 11 with everyone else. Hope to see you on the trail.”

“I'm glad you got the spot Matt. I don't really mind changing my dates - I'll be able to get more work done and I end up with just one less day out there. It also frees up another weekend. I'm hoping to still see everyone in Darwin Canyon.

Where is everyone camping in Darwin Canyon?”

“Thanks, WW. I looked at the rest of the album showing where our trip will be. That photo of Black Giant pass is just what I need to keep my pack weight down and keep me walking with my pack on every day between now and the morning we take off down the trail.”
