“Well, the three major hurdles are sumounted: Can I manage the hike, does my wife approve, can I get the time off from work? YES, and it counts! (sorry, Marv Albert). Because of the way the hike hits my normal work week of wed-sat, I have 12 days off, two before, six for the trip, four after (9th thru the 20th). Sounds like I need to plan a side trip for the drive back to the Seattle area. Anyone got any good one-nighter suggestions for Northern Cal-Southern Oregon?”

Even if the group splits up we cannot camp within 1/4 mile of each other. The rangers are very strict on this policy and we can be escorted out.

I just faxed my request in. I put the 11th as first choice and the 10th as second choice. I'm sure I can just go really slow the first day if I get the 10th and then spend the rest of the trip with the group.”

I posted to the other one on the trips page that I called in for me and Hodge's permit this a.m. So, we're in! At first she asked me for a second date but then she said never mind, you don't need one. You're in. She said that trip is really beautiful!
