advice for dayhiker
Stay home and help out, you are needed at home. You are going to feel guilty if you leave home under these conditions. And you should. This would be a good investment of you time if you stay home. Go play another day.

I hear ya waterdog. If the baby comes and if my wife has to babysit then I'm likely out. The first round of anti-labor drugs didn't work. BTW, her first child came 5 weeks early, so I'm betting that baby Grant will be here sometime over night.

PS. My 4 yo is super excited. He's ready to see the new baby. He's been saying thank you for baby Grant at bedtime prayers for a few months now. Funny thing is that my wife spent the night with them last night to visit and they drove back around lunch. 2 hrs later she gets a frantic phone call.

You two need to get a room, or the back seat of a car at least. I don't want to show up and have a Seinfeld moment. See van, see van move, open door,.....Oh the horror. If that van's a rockin', don't come a knockin'.

More advice for dayhiker
Just tell the wife now that you have decided to stay home. Tell her family comes first. I am betting you will get twice as many kitchen passes in the future. Don't take chances of messing up.

Let me introduce myself by saying you guys are nuts. In a good way though! Walkindude, Packrat & binkley should remember me from the ice bowl trip to savage gulf last winter. I'll only be doing Saturday night it looks like barring a change in things on the homefront. If I get there early enough, I'll hook up w/you guys at Collins West Sat. AM. Comming from Columbia, TN. Headcount should be more obvious then hopefully & I'll know to go to whats left of Stage Road if there are going to be too many at Sawmill. No fire will suck, though. Wouldn't want to bump a regular. I'll be a courteous intervener/lurker I promise! BTW, Divinity, take it from a total stranger: Definitely go commando.

People are fighting, The Rangers are freaking out, RAIN everyday in the forcast, campsites are overfilled, Pinebugs eating Stage Road Campsite, Dayhiker's Wife's cousin's bestfriend's cat is going to have a baby in a month and he may not make it, Waterdog is even talking him into staying home, the chicks going don't know who's tent they are going to be sleeing in, AND the CMBs are comming to town!

I'm thinking of shooting myself in the foot and missing this one.

I'm coming with FG. If it rains torrentially on Friday, well, then maybe we'll just hike out. But it stays dry Friday and only rains a little on Saturday, I can deal with hiking out in the rain on Sunday. I can deal with a lot if I know I'm gonna be in a dry car at the end of the trail.

I'm in still...
I've taken some pills that I found in the back of my car...I think they might be CMB's. They had cigar residue on them. They worked.

I will at least come down on fri night as planned, then set up a dry camp, and do day hikes if I have to. I have a tarp, I might set my tent up under it. Then hike saturday, and if its still a mess on sunday, bail then, we'll see. I can always use monday, to watch the entire LOTR movies again...LOL.

Going to help you all out
I really wish I could make this work but I really have no choice but not go with you all this weekend. I was committed to taking a newbie this weekend and he can't leave until Saturday morning. So, since you guys are going to have so many; WE WILL BOW OUT. kAROFISHES WAS GOING TO GO BUT IS SICK AND TN War Eagle isn't going either. WE are going to leave and go west to LBLakes on Saturday morning. It will probably be raining there also. The real reason I'm not going is FG won't let me sleep with him. CMB and Mrs. CMB, I'm so sorry I won't be able to squeal with you.

I'm packed and it comes to 23 lbs fooded up and watered down. I'm taking a few extras, though.

I guess I'm still heading toward Collins West tomorrow. I've had a few thoughts about baggin' and going up to hit the AT from Amicalola to Walasi-Yi. I'll make the final decision in the AM.

Just finished packing! The new Gregory is stuffed to the gills.

The weather should behave all day Friday and I am going to say all day Saturday. Trust me, I have a feeling about these things.

I bet it does open up and soak us Sunday but who really cares. At least the people who are going to split that day.

Sorry Monday peeps!

The current weather forecast for Beersheba (prononced by the locals as BURR-shuh-buh) Springs looks pretty good. Chance of rain, should be sporadic. I'm looking forward to this. Thursday night will be the coldest at 24 degrees. After that, lows are all in the 30s. Piece of cake for the hammock.

Nah, the biggest toothy critter in Savage Gulf is a bobcat. Ya sometimes hear 'em but you'll never see one. 'Coons can be a problem, though. We could see lots of turkeys and deer if we don't make too much noise...

Looks like I'm back in. My sis-in-law had her contractions get to 2 minutes, but they were able to stop labor. She's on bed rest for 2 weeks.

Sorry if I freaked anyone out, but as of last night the baby was coming right then.

See yall Friday morning.
