FG - that reminds me of a phrase that comes up in alot of the Books on Tape I borrow from my boss. It's about a 12 book historical fiction series from the late 1700's about the British Navy. When the main character is in a scary situation he says, "I was so scared I wouldn't trust myself with a fart."

I like these trips that are close to home. SG is a little over an hour away for me.

I'm going to have to go through my pack again tonight. I've packed too heavy. Now that the forecast is a bit warmer my load should lighten. Did we decide it would be about 10* colder camping in the canyon?

Also, tonight I have to sew my new mittens and sleeping cap. I think they'll be a big hit.

I can get down that low in summer, but not this time of year. WD, will show up wearing every piece of clothing he owns so that it won't be in his backpack and won't count against his pack weight.

I'm all packed upa nd ready to go as well. My pack is heavy...30 pounds without water. But some of that is food I'll eat Friday morning, and most of it is cold-weather clothing that I may leave in FG's van.

Looks like Friday is going to be nice in any case, and hopefully Saturday won't be too wet.

The pack is Frickin' heavy, like ALWAYS...LOL. I will make it to Collins West Thursday (TODAY) Evening, so I will be dayhiking on Friday...still thinking about this, tent or Hammock...the tent is in the pack, hammock is handy...each weighs the same....decisions, decisions...

Work is really dragging today.

I want it to end so I can start traveling! A little over 500 miles total I think, and the dang gas prices just shot to the roof again!

Sad news!
Due to the weather me and Ms Cmb are out of this hike. The rain is not a good thing in cold weather. And I do not want to drive 10 hours just too have one nice day of backpacking.

Next time everyone.

We'll miss you two!

One of the good things about living close is that if we decide to pack it in on Saturday, it's a short drive home. Not that I expect that to happen.

I might be able to manage turning the rain into blood but, not sure of stopping it all together. At least the water falling from the sky dosen't need to be filtered.

If you read that as an inch then I see why you bailed. It actually says 1/4". Heck, that's just a dusting. Here's a cut and paste from Beersheba Springs, TN. This is about 5 minutes away from the Gulf.

Tonight: Mainly clear. Low 22F. Winds light and variable.

Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. High near 45F. Winds light and variable.

Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy skies with a few showers late. Low 31F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30%.

Saturday: Rain showers in the morning becoming steady in the afternoon. High 44F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch.

Sunday: Cloudy with rain likely. Highs in the low 40s and lows in the low 20s.

Monday: Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the low 30s and lows in the mid teens.
