Biblical LNT
I mean this to be fun, not offensive. The point is that there are a lot of practical considerations in the Bible. Who knows, maybe when a TT'er in a church or temple group goes backpacking with people studying the Bible, they might even find this useful. For example, I was double checking a passage in Deuteronomy I noticed this passage (which I had not remembered from earlier readings):

Deuteronomy 23: 12 - 13

"Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad. And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee."

Just think of this:
The disciples were the first ultralighters! When the followed Jesus they had to leave everything behind except for the clothing they were wearing!

You missed the one right before that, ped. This has always been a rule in my tent:

Deuteronomy 23:10 If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:

"Yea, they speak against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?"
Ps 78:19

"Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beast of the field play."
Job 40:20

"They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of shelter."
Job 24:8

The New American Standard Bible makes it even more clear:

If there is among you any man who is unclean because of a nocturnal emission, then he must go outside the camp; he may not reenter the camp.

I think the Isrealites got us all beat after that epic 40 year hiking trip in the desert.

Cause ya know if they were slaves and not bondsmen they'd be carrying non-titainium stuff. See! It's all in how you treat the hired help as to weather they are slaves or not! LOL!

Hey ped I like the NIV translation better:

12 Designate a place outside the camp where you can go to relieve yourself. 13 As part of your equipment have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement.

oops. my bad I didn't read the whole thread
sorry

I do like the passages (found only in the KJV) which refer to the despicable practice of "pissing against the wall" . The Ancient Hebrew is indeed "urinate" but most modern translations render the verse as "men".
