“Has anyone on here done any cyclocross racing? They are having a class here this weekend & it sounds like fun.” 2:12:32 PM 11/21/03 “arky--i have never heard of this. what does it involve?” 2:22:08 PM 11/21/03 “Arky, do you have a cyclocross bike already?” 2:23:09 PM 11/21/03 “oh this is a type of bike!!!??” 2:24:10 PM 11/21/03 “Too much blood and mud for me. Those guy’s are crazy. I don’t even road race anymore and find that I am spending less time in the saddle.” 2:47:11 PM 11/21/03 “Yes they make special bikes but I was planning on changing the fork on my mtn bike & using it. You can also convert your road bike although there is no way in hell I am going to subject my roadbike to that kind of grief.” 3:07:46 PM 11/21/03 “What kind of road bike do you have Arky? Univega Modo Vincere here” 4:01:01 PM 11/21/03 “Litespeed Tuscany. Titanium frame to hold up my massive girth. I also have a Trek mtn bike.” 4:27:39 PM 11/21/03 “Cyclocross is a blast. I've done a few but with a mountain bike. If I remember, races were timed, between 30 minutes to an hour. Lots of mud and running with the bike, a very intense workout.” 4:40:08 PM 11/21/03 “I can just picture your Litespeed, with some 32-34 rims and knobbies on it, barrelling though a bog or bunny-hopping a log...lol” 4:46:24 PM 11/21/03 “Riggin a Litespeed for cross? Oh man, that's like taking a Ferrari and rigging it for Baja.” 4:55:01 PM 11/21/03 “LOL! Don't forget the banana seat!” 5:25:37 PM 11/21/03 “Anybody hear of LNT? :o) I used to do alot of mt. biking..but never done cyclo-cross...must be a blast.” 2:35:56 PM 11/22/03 “I've never actually "participated" in a cyclocross event, but my ex was/is heavily into them. I was the "support" person (and a DAM* GOOD ONE, at that!... the best she ever had, let me tell you!) I've watched and listened to what the riders have to say about these things, and personally, you couldn't PAY me enough to put my body thru the HE!! these people go thru, ... and all for just a race! They ARE fun to watch, and even the spectators/support persons, get involved. I can remember her training schedule: spinning, running, working out for 3 hours a day, and eating certain foods... all just for one race! She raced Mtn. bike style too, so it wasn't JUST for Cyclo. She was extremely competitve, and pushed herself to the limit, all the time. She's with someone else now.... someone that rides too. I wish the 2 of them the happiness of riding off into the sunset... and off a short cliff! (j/k... I think...;-)” 6:19:50 PM 11/22/03 “I would try cyclocross if I could find it locally it would be awesome training for adventure racing.” 9:27:21 PM 11/22/03
