Isn't Peck's Corner privy the privy that looks like a hot water heater? It's looks like it has been there forever! Rusted and rotting away! Eeewwwww!!

lessee.. the nastiest bp experience..
I don't really have on that is nasty. Once, I hiked to Cabin Flats (Smokes) and found some pretty heavy garbage piles in the fire rings, and packed it out. That was pretty nasty.

I have encountered nasty things in the civilized world though... and have heard about a few - like Azimuth's story about how a co-worker left a pinky-sized turd on the toilet seat. LOL!!!!!!!!!!

I had giardia once and will never drink unfiltered water again (short of a life or death situation which I will try my hardest to avoid).

Worst backpacking experience? Taking someone out for three days who b!tched and whined every step of the way.

Smokygirl, that was a funny visual! I don't know about the new privy at Peck's corner, but I rememeber they were going to build it right above the frickin' water source! YIkes!

I crossed a polluted river in Italy, didn't drink or anything.
I woke up in my tent puking and chitting at the same time. And it
lasted throug 20 ft of crawling.

When I'm out trout fishing in the streams it's pretty common to find dead animals right in or next to the water. I've seen deer, birds, fish and raccoons, etc. dead in the water. On smaller creeks water can be flowing right through a dead deer while you are filling your water bottle downstream and you wouldn't know it.

I wonder if they managed to contaminate the meat with E. coli? That's definitely waterborne and found in most surface water all over the world.

A blown diaper hanging in a tree down in RRG amongst other trash around a camp site. Next to that would be this fella I saw running naked thru the woods in the Black Hills. The poor guy looked like he was cold.

The time we were walking by another campsite in the Winds to go to the water source, this kid was taking a dump over a log right in thier own campsite.

chili, hiking with Dunadan wasn't that bad.

I think bitpusher wins this contest. Wasn't it bit who was hiking in Monesano SP in Huntsville and rounded a corner and caught two guys doing the old 69.

I do filter my water, I was just making fun of the below comment.

I just love it when people say, "I never filter my water and have never gotten sick"."

Actually, in the 10 years I had paddled through Quetico Provincial Park, I never once filtered and never once got sick. As long as you don't drink in the shallows or near beaver damms, you should be fine.
