“What a weekend! Man, we just about killed Honey! She slept the whole 5 hours home and then hit the couch when she got home. My wife tried to shew her off the couch and she wouldn’t budge then growled at her when she persisted. She is one wore out puppy! It was definitely one of the most challenging yet fulfilling hikes I’ve had in years. Thanks Budder for showing us around your ‘secret’ spot!

What a weekend! Man, we just about killed Sneakers! He slept the whole 4 hours home and then hit his couch when he got home. His roommates tried to shew him off the couch and he wouldn’t budge then growled at them when they persisted. He is one wore out dude!

“LOL! At Tara! Sneakers (?) was a super trooper! I didn’t hear him complaining once. Maybe because I couldn’t hear over my own groans? That hill was hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’ve never done a hill that was too steep to use poles in spots. Even though my bowels shut down on the trail I nearly shat my pants in more than one spot.”

“Geez... What's up w/ you people not pooping on the trail? It's one of my favorite places to go. Sunday morning, overlooking camp and the winding river... sure beats staring at the bathroom wall.

OK - Abbreviated Trip Report:

We (Me, laqtis, Nigal, Sneakers) arrived at Buddur's place in the early evening. Stopped for some dinner on the way to the trailhead. Before leaving the restaurant, Buddur put blindfolds on all of us (including the dogs!!) in order to keep his super secret location a super secret. We arrived at trailhead after dark. He led us into the woods for about 15 minutes before alowing us to remove the blindfolds. Not that it would have mattered since it was really dark w/out a moon. Anyway - we hiked in to camp via a very steep slope into a river valley. Lotsa falling (even a broken trekking pole), lotsa mud, lotsa cursing... and lotsa smiles. Got to camp, lit the fire, opened the bar, talked and talked and talked and talked... Crashed between 11 and 12.

Morning was foggy. I hung out in my shelter with visits from both BuddurDog and Honey. When I heard someone else stir, I got out. The fog looked pretty on the river. Took a close to 4 hour dayhike. The trail was muddy from all the mountain biker and horse traffic so we did most of our hiking off trail. Lotsa rocks and neat stuff to check out. Back to camp at 2ish for lunch and to listen to the remainder of the OSU/Mich game on Nigal's radio. (Michigan KICKED @SS, BTW.) Broke camp and moved it to another location. The hike to the new camp was a challenge, to say the least. We walked along another trail, which followed the river for a bit. When the hill beside the river was as steep and tall as it could be, Buddur declares it's time to go up. It was fun (and tiring). Finished trekking across the woods and ended in another river valley after dark. This time, the river was much smaller and winding. It babbled on both sides of camp. Very nice. We ate huge dinners and all crashed somewhere around the 9 o'clock hour.

Hiked out via the river until it was time to find the trail again. Beautiful hike. Tons more cars at the trailhead than there were the first night. Lotsa bike mounts and horse trailers. Glad we got outta there when we did.

Had breakfast at King's. It was chaotic but yummy. Drove home.

Oh, the weather was awesome. Buddur is an excellent guide. BuddurDog and Honey are fantastic trail dogs. Well mannered and very obedient. Buddur, Laqtis, Nigal, and Sneakers are fantastic hiking companions. Well mannered and very obedient.

Oh, and OSU got their butts WHOOPED.
